Author Interview with Kimberly Spencer & Giveaway!

Hi Guys,

We have a very special interview today! As you all know I've recently read and reviewed a book called Shimmerspell (A Faerie Tale Girl Novella #1). If you missed my review earlier on, here it is (review. The author Kimberly Spencer has kindly agreed to do an author interview AND a giveaway. How cool is that?

So guys, please help me welcome Kimberly to Book Passion for Life.

Hi Kimberly! We'd just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for agreeing to do the interview and giveaway. As you already know, I really enjoyed Shimmerspell, I loved the characters and I'm really eager to see what happens next.

So on to the interview questions:

1) What inspired you to write Shimmerspell?
I’ve always loved the idea of Camelot, but with stories of that nature, I find myself wondering, what happened next? So for Shimmerspell, my goal was to tell just that while also stressing the faerie side of the legend. The major question was if the Lady of the Lake was tasked with helping King Arthur to build this great kingdom, what happened when Morgen Le Fae brought about its downfall?

2) How long did it take to write?
I was in graduate school when I started writing Shimmerspell, so it took me nearly a year to finish it.

3) How many books will be in the series?
Right now, I’m planning it as a trilogy. The second book, Limerick, will be released this summer and a third untitled book, this fall.

4) How did you come up with Jensen and Liam's names?
Jensen was named after Jensen Ackles who plays Dean on Supernatural. (I love that show!) Liam was named after the actor, Liam Neeson. The funny thing about Liam is that when I describe his appearance in the book, I’m actually describing Jensen Ackles.

5) What is your favourite part of the book?
My favorite part of the book is when Jensen visits the Isle of Mermen. I find that part to be very exciting and I loved introducing the different types of fae into the story.

Three Random Questions

1) Who are your favourite authors/books?
Cassandra Clare – Mortal Instruments series, Rachel Vincent – Soul Screamers series, Gena Showalter – Alien Huntress and Lords of the Underworld series & Stephenie Meyer - Twilight

2) What is your favourite food?
Fried chicken. I know that’s a boring answer, but I love it.

3) If the author could have dinner with one person, dead or alive who would it be and why? Prince.
He’s one of my favourite singers and an amazing songwriter. Plus, I think the dinner would be fantastically weird because he’s such an eccentric person.

Wow! So many great answers. Jenson Ackles is such a great choice for a main character, so you have our vote for him. ;) Kimberly, again we'd like to thank you for taking the time with us today and we'd like to wish you good luck with the book.

But when she overhears a murder confession at school and is abandoned by her sister, Jensen learns three new things: Drinking Red Bull isn't the only way to get wings: The faerie realm is real, and it still hasn't gotten over King Arthur's death. Shimmerspell, the power to move between the mortal and faerie realms, is lost. And somehow, her sister is tied to it all. With the help of a few teenage light-elves, Jensen searches for the truth in a sea of lies and begins to suspect that her whole life has been the tallest tale of them all.
