Battle of the Sexes: Boys (#4): Dimitri vs Peeta

Battle of the sexes is a new weekly meme created by us at Book Passion for Life. Every Friday we'll post a poll with 2 characters from 2 different books. We will alternate each week between boys and girls. We'll be running the polls for 12 weeks, at which point YOU thats right YOU bloggers will vote for your favourite character (boy or girl) depending on which week it is. At the end of the 12 weeks, we will place all previous winners into one poll where you will all vote for your ULTIMATE CHARACTER. That character will be crowned King or Queen in the Battle of the sexes final.

  • Three quote's for each character

Other than that, there isn't anything else to add to the meme. There are no rules, so pretty much anything goes.

Dimitri's Quotes

"The spell. Victor said you had to want me... to care about me... for it to work." When he didn't say anything, I tried to grip his shirt, but my fingers were too weak. "Did you? Did you want me?"
His words came out thickly. "Yes, Roza. I did want you. I still do. I wish... we could be together."
"Then why did you lie to me?"
We reached the clinic, and he managed to open the door while still holding me. As soon as he stepped inside, he began yelling for help.
"Why did you lie?" I murmured again.
Still holding me in his arms, he looked down at me. I could hear voices and footsteps getting closer.
"Because we can't be together."
"Because of the age thing, right?" I asked. "Because you're my mentor?"
His fingertip gently wiped away a tear that had escaped down my cheek. "That's part of it," he said. "But also... well, you and I will both be Lissa's gaurdians someday. I need to protect her at all cost. If a pack of Strigoi come, I need to throw my body between them and her."
I know that. Of course that's what you have to do." The black sparkles were dancing in front of my eyes again. I was fading out.
"No. If I let myself love you, I won't throw myself in front of her. I'll throw myself in front of you."

"You're beautiful in battle," said Dimitri. His cold voice carried to me clearly, even above the roar of combat. "Like an avenging angel come to deliver the justice of heaven."

"I'll find you. There is no place in this world you can hide from me. I'm watching.
Love, Dimitri"
Peeta's Quotes

"So after, when he whispers," You love me. Real or not real?"
I tell him, "Real."

“Katniss?” Peeta says. I meet his eyes, knowing my face must be some shade of green. He mouths the words. “How about that kiss?”

“Yes, and I’m sure the arena will be full of bags of flour for me to chuck at people.”

Okay everyone! There's all the details on our boys this week. Two great males  to decide over. Here's the voting poll...so time to cast your votes! Winner will be announced once the 5 days of voting is up! Have fun :)

Book Passion for Life own nothing.

What is this? 20 questions? No it's actually just 3! (#16)

This is a weekly meme created by us:  Book Passion for Life. We created this so you could get to know us a little better. If you want to join in....all you have to do is create three questions for yourself each week and answer them, OR to make things fun, ask your followers to ask you a few questions each week!

Jessica's Q & A's

Q: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see play the lead role as you?
A: Oh wow...um that's hard. But I'd probably pick Jennifer Aniston (she looks nothing like me but hey!) or maybe Kiera Knightly. I love her.

Q: What kind of people do you dislike?
A: I'm not sure how to answer this without coming across rude lol. But anyone that's arrogant (unless you're Jace, Will, Ren etc) people who think themselves better than others just because they're born in a higher status or with money. Pisses me off to no end.

Q: If you were eating a salad, what kind of dressing would you have?
A: Oh that's easy...balsamic vinegar...I know it sounds awful putting vinegar on a salad, but just try it one day with mixed salad leaves...it's amazing!

Donna's Q & A's

Q: If you were a tree what kind of tree would you be?
A: Oh wow, there's no choice really. A Cherry Blossom tree. There absolutely beautiful when they bloom. I love them.
Q: What would I find in your refrigerator right now?
A: Okay, we haven't been shopping yet so not much. There's egg's, cheese, dairy milk chocolate, sparkling flavoured water, baby yogurts, cucumber, tomato's, garlic, chilli's, celery, butter, loads of different sauces, milk, milkshake, pepperoni and orange juice.

Q: If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
A: Oh....What a boring life? Lol Only joking. I'm not to sure, I don't think much has happened to me, its been pretty fun and easy so far.

Tune in next week for more!

Cover Reveal & Excerpt for Fever (The Chemical Gardens #2)

Name: Fever (The Chemical Gardens)
Series: Book Two
Author: Lauren DeStefano
Release Date: February 2012
Publishers: Simon & Schuster
Pages: 368
The blurb:
Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but they’re still in danger. Outside, they find a world even more disquieting than the one they left behind. Determined to get to Manhattan and to find Rhine’s twin brother Rowan, the two press forward, amidst threats of being captured again . . . or worse. The road they are on is long and perilous—and in a world where young women only live to age 20 and men die at age 25, time is precious. In this sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price—now that she has more to lose than ever.

Excerpt from the book:

A breeze rolls up from the water, and I realize at once how numb the cold air and wet clothes have made me. We should find someplace to stay, but where? I sit up and take in our surroundings. There’s sand and rocks for several more yards, but beyond that I can see the shadows of buildings. A lone freight truck lumbers down  a faraway road, and I think soon it’ll be dark enough for Gatherer vans to start patrolling the area with their lights off. This would be the perfect place for them to hunt; there don’t appear to be any streetlights, and the alleyways between those buildings could be full of scarlet district girls.Gabriel, of course, is more concerned about the blood. He’s trying to wrap my palm with a piece of seaweed, and the salt is burning the wound. I just need a minute to take this all in, and then I’ll worry about the cut. This time yesterday, I was a House Governor’s bride. I had sister wives. At the end of my life, my body would end up with the wives who died before me, on a rolling cart in my father-in-law’s basement, for him to do only he knows what. But now there’s the smell of salt, sound of the ocean. There’s a hermit crab making its way up a sand dune. And something else, too. My brother, Rowan, is somewhere out here. And there’s nothing stopping me from getting home to him.

Wow! What do you all think? Well we're dying to read the first book still but this book sounds just as good. The cover is beautiful, the colours used are amazing. We love it!
