--The New York Times, USA Today, and Wallstreet Journal bestselling blockbuster--

Sometimes life takes you off course . . .

THE EDGE OF NEVER

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett thought she knew exactly where her life was going. But after a wild night at the hottest club in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina, she shocks everyone-including herself-when she decides to leave the only life she's ever known and set out on her own. Grabbing her purse and her cell phone, Camryn boards a Greyhound bus ready to find herself. Instead, she finds Andrew Parrish.

Sexy and exciting, Andrew lives life like there is no tomorrow. He persuades Camryn to do things she never thought she would and shows her how to give in to her deepest, most forbidden desires. Soon he becomes the center of her daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But there is more to Andrew than Camryn realizes. Will his secret push them inseparably together-or destroy them forever?

The Review: “Just because one person's problem is less traumatic than another's doesn't mean they're required to hurt less”

The Edge of Never has been a story that I’ve wanted to read since it was first release but I’ve just not had the time, so thankfully and luckily enough I managed to get an ARC – thus meaning I could bump this baby right up top in my review pile and am I disappointed with it? NO WAY IN HELL! It’s freaking awesome!

Camryn’s story is one full of heart-ache and loss and she tries to keep herself to herself, so no-one can ever hurt her. I love that this was a self-discovery one and especially a road trip one. Cam really needed this time to herself, to figure out who she really is or who she really wants to be, but with the arrival of Andrew, her plans change. With Andrew’s arrival, Cam slowly starts to become a more open person, she starts to say whatever is on her mind and she also tries to do things out of her comfort zone. Andrew really is the light in this story – he’s open minded and fun but most of all honest. He says whatever is on his mind and Cam’s taken back by this. I think this is why they connected so much because Cam could always trust whatever Andrew told her.

As a couple, they were fantastic. They weren’t without their problems because you know, no couple is perfect but as I said before, this was a story about self discovery and both Cam and Andrew discovered so much about themselves and each other. Their relationship wasn’t a rushed one, the author really took the time them to get to know one another and I loved that; it makes a huge impact on the story.

“The heart always wins out over the mind, the heart, although reckless and suicidal and masochist all on its own, always gets it way. The mind may be what's best, but I don't give a shit what my mind is telling me anymore. Right now, I want to live in the moment.”

The story itself is full of hidden secrets and emotions; it has the perfect blend of romance as well as hard times. At times, I had tears in my eyes but it’s wasn’t over done with emotions – it was just right....beautiful.

The ending left me feeling……I’m not sure. I enjoyed but it almost felt as though it was a tad rushed. The real drama happens in the last 10% of the book and then it ends. So, I’m pleased there’s a second book – I’m eager to see what the author comes up with next.

Overall, The Edge of Never is a fantastic addition to the New Adult genre and I for one, hope J.A. Redmerski plans to write more outside of Cam and Andrew’s world.

One Tiny Lie (Ten Tiny Breaths, #2)One Tiny Lie (Ten Tiny Breaths #2)
by K.A. Tucker
Release date: June 11th, 2013

Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents' tragic death and Kacey's self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. “Make me proud,” he had said. She promised she would...and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.
Jess's Thoughts: Donna and I adored the first book in this series. I can't wait to read this! I love the cover, more than I loved the first one. I'm so excited to read Livie's story. I really liked her as a character in book one, and I honestly can't wait to meet Ashton this lovely captain of the rowing team...mmm.

A Review for The Elite (The Selection #2) by Kiera Cass

The ElitePosted by Donna
Release Date: April 23rd, 2013
Finished Date: April 14th, 2013
Publishers: HarperCollins UK
Source: For Review
Format: Kindle
Pages:  336
Buy: Amazon UK / Amazon US / The Book Depo

Kiera Cass’s The Elite is a must-read for fans of dystopian fiction, fairy tales, and reality TV. This sequel to The Selection will enchant teens who love Divergent and The Bachelor.

In America Singer’s world, a bride is chosen for the prince through an elaborate televised competition. In the second book of the Selection series, America is one of only six girls left in the running. But is it Prince Maxon—and life as the queen—she wants? Or is it Aspen, her first love?

The Elite delivers the adventure, glamour, political intrigue, and romance readers of The Selection expect, and continues the love triangle that captivated them.

The Review: "All I want is your promise to stay with me, to be mine. Sometimes It feels like you can't possibly be real. Promise me you'll stay."

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of The Elite and now, after reading it for 8 hours straight, I'm finished. I'm sad, I'm happy, I'm excited and I'm worried but, even with all my mixed feelings (and I say mixed feelings in a good way), nothing can overshadow the fact that Kiera Cass delivered a stunning sequel.

We all fell in love with America Singer in The Selection, when she was picked along with 34 other girls, to fall in love with Prince Maxon, so one of them could become the next Princess of Illea. And now in The Elite, we see how intense things are getting when America is amongst the 6 remanding girls. Things are not easy for her though, because with the return of her first love; Aspen, America has to figure out who she really wants, and more importantly is she strong enough to take on all the responsibilities of possibly being a Princess means. All America knows for now, is she's not ready to leave and nor is she ready to make her choice, but time waits for no-one and America's running out of time.

I don't know how she's done it but Kiera Cass brings us a sequel that overthrows the predecessor, seriously The Elite is that good. I'm left dying though because I can't wait to see what happens next and as a reader, knowing that you have to whole year to wait for the finale is pure torture. I was wholeheartedly consumed by this novel and I just want more.

America is completely back and forth in this book, she's constantly confused about whom she should really be with, and then when she finally figures it out, something happens and takes everything she's worked out away. It did get a slightly frustrating at time but when you have two great guys battling for your heart - not forgetting one comes with some much more than love but managing a whole country too, can we really blame America for feeling how she does? I couldn't! I felt she handed everything naturally and very well, although at times rash, she still tries to do the best she can. She has feelings I think any girl would have, her heart constantly battles for her old love and her new love. How does she choose? It's not an easy journey, it's one that comes with a lot tears but she does get there in the end, but the journey isn't over just - yet!

Maxon and Aspen get so much time in the spot light this time around; it's just as hard for them as it is for America. Their two great guys - both who make mistakes along the way but no guy is perfect. You all know my hearts leans toward Maxon more than Aspen, and I'm hoping it all works out for them.

Not only is the love triangle a huge part of this book but the rebel's playing a bigger part. There's back and they're there to cause trouble. It was interested to learn more about them and we do, and I believe they will play a bigger part in the final book. I'm for one excited to see what this book will bring.

In all, The Elite has an intriguing and unique story line, a history that is frighteningly engaging and a love triangle that works perfect and Kiera Cass should be proud of everything she's achieved so far!

Excerpt from Dare Me Forever

“Penny for your thoughts,” I said, surprising myself.  I never say things like that, but he looked so serious, sitting there in the midst of the party, pensive and alone. I was determined to lighten his mood, though maybe the four wine coolers had something to do with it.   I smiled and moved closer to the bench “I’m Amy.  And you are?”
“I’m busy and don’t have time for this now,” his said tersely in a British accent.  I couldn’t believe my ears.  How rude.  And if he was so busy, why did he bother coming to the party anyway?  He turned towards me, and right after being taken aback by his perfect green eyes, I noticed an iPhone pressed up against his ear.
All at once I realized how foolish I was--he hadn’t been talking to me at all.  He’d been so quiet earlier, and through the noise of the party, I hadn’t noticed that he was obviously in a deep conversation.  How many of those wine thingies had I had?  Who knew, but it must have been a lot more than usual. I had better be careful as I was coming to realize that maybe, just maybe I was a little bit trashed.
He looked up at me slowly and held one finger to keep me at bay, the way you would gesture to an errant assistant when interrupted. Ew. No thank you. “What am I, one of your subjects?” I murmured.
He turned toward me, obviously hearing the snarky remark I’d just made.
“Hang on Jason,” he put his hand over the phone.  “No, you’re not, but you could be,” he said, an incorrigible grin on his face.  What a condescending ass.
Now I wished I hadn’t wandered over. Sure he was good looking--well actually he was gorgeous--but I wasn’t going to wait for someone I didn’t even know, no matter how well-built he was or how sexy his accent. But as I was about to turn and walk away, he ended his call and looked up at me, straight in my eyes.  It was a sweet look, nothing like how he had sounded a moment earlier, like we were in on some private joke together. I could feel heat spreading through my chest, and I almost felt like giggling. The way his eyes sparkled, it felt like he already knew me.

A Review for The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2) by Julie Kagawa

The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden, #2)Posted by Donna
Release Date: April 30th, 2013
Finished Date: April 12th, 2013
Publishers: Harlequin Teen

Format: Kindle
Pages:  446

In Allison Sekemoto's world, there is one rule left: Blood calls to blood

She has done the unthinkable: died so that she might continue to live. Cast out of Eden and separated from the boy she dared to love, Allie will follow the call of blood to save her creator, Kanin, from the psychotic vampire Sarren. But when the trail leads to Allie's birthplace in New Covington, what Allie finds there will change the world forever-and possibly end human and vampire existence.

There's a new plague on the rise, a strain of the Red Lung virus that wiped out most of humanity generations ago-and this strain is deadly to humans and vampires alike. The only hope for a cure lies in the secrets Kanin carries, if Allie can get to him in time.

Allison thought that immortality was forever. But now, with eternity itself hanging in the balance, the lines between human and monster will blur even further, and Allie must face another choice she could never have imagined having to make.

The Review: I don't believe in fate," he said carefully, "but... I do believe everything happens for a reason. That there is some plan, some meaning to this darkness we live in.”

The Eternity Cure.....holy smokes! I’ve been dying to read this sequel and not just because Julie Kagawa is one of my favourite authors, but because The Immortal Rules was an absolute fantastic story. As for the sequel, in my opinion, Julie nailed it! How could she not?

This time around we see Allie trying to look for Kanin after leaving Zeke in Eden. As Kanin reaches out to Allie through their sire connection, Allie believes she's not far away, however we she ends up running into Jackal - her blood brother, she realises she has been following the wrong lead all along. With no other choice, Allie has to team up Jackal in order to save their sire. But when the remaining human's start becoming sick, Allie realises that another virus is going around leaving her no choice but to find a cure.

I have to admit, I had my doubts that this Julie could pull off this sequel just because of how much I enjoyed The Immortal Rules and admittedly, the first 10% of this story, and I really struggled with. Mainly because I just couldn't remember what had happened in the first book, but thankfully Julie re-caps her stories very well - and without that I think I would have been lost. Once I got past that 10%, I started to really get back into the story, I love the way the writing flows and how imaginable this story is. Every time I picture this world, I instantly think how well it would all look on the big screen and I would seriously love it if it was made into a movie. I should never have doubted Julie, should I? This women knows how to write and she writes so well, I’m not sure she could ever disappoint us.

The story this time around was so dangerous and had so much tension from the get go. The character made this such an entertaining read - Allie, Jackal, Zeke and Kanin reflect each other so well - despite the problems they have. I was a huge fan of Allie and Zeke the first time around that I only came to love them more throughout The Eternity Cure. Kanin was another character I was glad got more time in the spotlight, he’s so self-less and caring for a vampire but, the one that surprised me the most was Jackal. This guy brought so many laugh-out-loud moments to this story. He was so hilarious sometimes and even though he's technically one of the bad guys, I found myself slowly starting to love him too. How could you not when he says stuff like this;

"Nice place you got here. Love what you've done with it. If I'd known, I would've bought a housewarming gift. A shag rug to go with the lovely pile of garbages."

"You sure you want to do this, bloodbag?" he asked, smirking. "Go up past the wall, where all the scary vampires live? Maybe you want to pour some honey or barbeque sauce over yourself before we leave, too."

So freaking funny! Not only that but it is very refreshing that Julie never introduced a love triangle between Jackal/Zeke and Allie. Jackal is her blood-brother, so everything is very sibling related. I'm glad because that’s one of my worries with sequels, because most authors seem to take that root. But not Julie!

The plot thickens and thickens at every corner - never once becoming overbearing or confusing but just perfect. It makes me even more excited to read the next instalment. I hope we hear some new soon!

In all, The Eternity Cure is a fantastic sequel - one that is just as good as its predecessor and I can't wait for more.

Blog Tour for Faceless (Denazen #2.5) by Jus Accardo; Review + INT Giveaway

Faceless (Denazen #2.5)Posted by Donna
Release Date: March 18th, 2013
Finished Date:
Publishers: Entangled Publishing (Ever After)
Source: For Review
Format: Kindle
Pages:  136
Buy: Amazon UK / Amazon US / Barnes and Noble

My name is Brandt Cross, and I died. Again…

I'm living in the body of a Six named Douglass Cain, a certifiable scumbag whose ability is on Zendean Industries—AKA Denazen's—most wanted list. There’s some serious bad going down, and Ginger, the leader of the Underground, sent me undercover to obtain information because people are dying.

My cousin, Dez, is dying…

Denazen thought they’d found a cure for the Supremacy decline, but they were wrong. That’s the bad news. The good news? Franklin Wentz.

Wentz, the owner of a genetic research company, is brilliant and just a little bit crazy. He’s unwittingly created a formula that may cure the sick Supremacy kids, and everyone wants it—including Devin, the super hot Resident. Get the formula. Save the day. Don’t fall for the hot spy. Piece of cake.

The Review: I adore Jus Accardo's work, so when I heard she was writing another novella in the Denazen series, I was super happy because I can't get enough of her work and although Faceless isn't a favourite, it's still a great addition to the series.

Faceless is Brandt's - Dez's cousin's novella and I've always been a fan of his, since the start of the series. He has a great relationship with Dez but of course, we all know what happens (if you've read the series) Dez struggles a lot of Brandt's departure, so I'm thrilled that Jus manages to bring him back and in such a exciting way too. His story gives us a lot of insight to what's really going on behind the scenes and of course, we get to meet so many more different characters.

What I enjoyed about Brandt so much was his sense of humour; “My name is Brandt Cross, and my life used to be seven kinds of f**ked up.... Now it's eight...”

“It was a shame I couldn't go public with my ability. Girls found immortality hot, right? Slap on a pair of fangs and add some glitter and I could probably hook up with my choice of rabid Twilight fangirls.”

He has so many laugh out loud moments but you can't help feeling sorry for him to. He's had to leave behind his family and my heart breaks for him. The romance in the story was a great addition too!

I bet you're wondering if Dez and Kale make an appearance? They do but not much, which was....disappointing but hey, we have all of Tremble to be with them. I can not wait! Roll on May 7th!

Jess's WoW

Unbeautifully (Undeniable, #2)Unbeautifully (Undeniable #2)
by Madeleine Sheehan
Release date: Summer 2013

The first time I fell in love it was with a pair of blue eyes and a wide dimpled grin.

“Your old man loves ya, Danny girl,” He whispered. “You never ever forget that, yeah?”

I never did. And I never thought I could ever love any man as much as I loved my father. But as we grow, we change, we begin to make our own decisions and thus become independent and self sufficient and start turning away from our parents and turning to others. We form friendships, strong bonds and ties and begin experiencing life outside of the bubble we grew up inside of.

And we fall in love…a second time.

The second time I fell in love it was with a badly scarred face, the stuff of nightmares; the sort of disfigurement that mothers steer their children away from. Ugly, jagged slashes marred the skin from the top of his skull, down over his right eye, an eye that had been dug out of his face with a serrated blade. The scars continued across his cheek, over his lips and down his neck, ending at the top of his shoulder. His chest was a hundred times worse; scar tissue as far as the eye could see.
Jess's Thoughts: Very excited about this. I really loved the first one, and this one is Danny's story and I'm so excited to read her story. Looking forward to finding out more about Ripper and his many scars.

Deception (Defiance, #2)Deception (Defiance #2)
by C.J. Redwine
Release date: August 27th, 2013

Baalboden has been ravaged. The brutal Commander's whereabouts are unknown. And Rachel, grief stricken over her father's death, needs Logan more than ever. With their ragged group of survivors struggling to forge a future, it's up to Logan to become the leader they need—with Rachel by his side. Under constant threat from rival Carrington's army, who is after the device that controls the Cursed One, the group decides to abandon the ruins of their home and take their chances in the Wasteland.

But soon their problems intensify tenfold: someone—possibly inside their ranks—is sabotaging the survivors, picking them off one by one. The chaos and uncertainty of each day puts unbearable strain on Rachel and Logan, and it isn't long before they feel their love splintering. Even worse, as it becomes clear that the Commander will stop at nothing to destroy them, the band of survivors begins to question whether the price of freedom may be too great—and whether, hunted by their enemies and the murderous traitor in their midst, they can make it out of the Wasteland alive.

In this daring sequel to Defiance, with the world they once loved forever destroyed, Rachel and Logan must decide between a life on the run and standing their ground to fight.

Donna's thoughts: I had trouble picking a WoW this week but Deception was the one that stood out most. I really enjoyed the first book so I'm excited to see where the author takes the story next.

A Review for Addicted for You by Alix Wentmouth

16-year-old Frankie Raven has just moved 250 miles away from her sleepy hometown to Bradford and she’s convinced her life is over. But then she meets two people who set her on an exhilarating new path and change her life forever.

Roxana King lives on Leather Lane and everyone knows what goes on there; well, everyone except Frankie. Roxana is enigmatic, fun and unlike anyone Frankie has ever known. Then there’s Marcus Ford, the gorgeous, brooding older boy who fuels Frankie's daydreams about meeting her very own Heathcliff on the wild Yorkshire Moors. There’s an instant attraction and Frankie falls hard and fast.

Marcus and Frankie begin a passionate and turbulent affair but their relationship takes a sinister turn when Marcus becomes increasingly controlling and volatile. As Frankie is drawn away from Roxana into a world of darkness and isolation she finds herself impossibly torn between her head and her heart. Will Roxana still be there to save Frankie from herself and from Marcus? Of course, that’s what best friends are for. Isn’t it?

This is compelling and hard-hitting young adult fiction. Contains scenes of an explicit nature and is not suitable for younger readers.

The Review: British author Alix Wenmouth's debut novel, Addicted to You is well written but it's one not without its struggles. It's about a teenage girl named Frankie becoming wrapped up in an abusive relationship and we all know how dangerous that can be. Frankie meets Marcus through a friend and they quickly begin an addictive relationship that goes sour very quickly. But how can you give up on your first love?

I really enjoyed Addicted to You. It’s a great story with great characters and even though it’s a difficult subject to write about, this story works so well. There’s a perfect balance of romance, fun, sad and dangerous times.

Frankie was a great character, one that was easy to connect to and very lovable. I could sympathise to her situation. Moving to a new town is hard but I was glad she managed to find friendship with Roxanna. I really enjoyed their friendship. Roxanna opened Frankie up to different things and it was fun to read about. But like all friendships, they have problems and the main problem being Marcus. He was a character that I loved to start with but slowly, I started to pick faults with him, because you could see how things were going to. You could see how much of a struggle it was for Frankie, it’s a hard thing for a teenage girl to go through and at times, it nearly brought me to tears.

In all, Addicted to You is an addictive read and the title of this book really fits this story. Alix Wenmouth did a great job with it and I look forward to reading more from her in the near future.

A Review for Shadowed (Fated #3) by Sarah Alderson

Fate has won.

The realms have been severed...but the fight’s still far from over.

It’s been three months since the devastating battle that closed the way through between this world and the demon realms but Evie’s still reeling from all she's lost.

When news reaches her that a group of Originals is on the prowl in LA and growing in numbers, Evie must decide whether to join the rogue Hunters in a final battle or fight her fate one last time.

The way through might be closed. But that doesn’t mean Evie’s got closure.

The Review: 4.5 Stars!

You all know how much of a fan I am of Sarah Alderson’s work because she continually knocks out fantastic and well written work and after reading Shadowed, I don’t think I could ever be disappointed with her work. It definitely lived up to every expectation I had.

In Shadowed we see Evie deal with the aftermath of the events from Fated and honestly, it’s not easy but once again, the world she lives in never stops and she soon has to team up with the remaining Rogue Hunters to stop more evil.

I really loved Shadowed! I literally devoured it within 24 hours because it’s just so hard to put down.  This finale brings so much excitement but mostly it brings suspense. If you’ve read this series you will know there are two major characters who aren’t present because of the events in Fated but don’t worry, Sarah manages to bring these two great characters back into the fold and honestly, without them it wouldn’t have been the same.

Evie is such a great character. It’s hard not to love her. I loved how much more emotional she was this time around and Lucas, yes, I love him too. Always and forever! And Cyrus, I think he should have his own story, seriously he's an awesome character.

Now for the ending, for a finale I felt the story was left wide open – an epilogue would have been fantastic but, I can kind of see WHY that couldn’t have happened now. It’s not something I can explain unless you’ve read the story because otherwise it will ruin the whole experience of this book for you, but yeah, I felt like Evie and Lucas’s story isn’t over.  I’ve heard Sarah may re-visited this series in the future and I so hope she does, maybe not even a full length book but a novella set like 20 years into the future would be awesome.

In all, Sarah Alderson amazes me once again and Shadowed is nothing short of amazing! If you haven’t read this series, then I highly suggest you do, you need to visit this wonderful and exciting world.
