The Review: 4.5 stars!

Love Lines is a really good read and I enjoyed it a lot. It is the beginning of the series so there is a lot of getting to know the characters and the world in which they live. The characters are great and all likeable especially the main set who are – Eileen (our female lead), Amanda (her BFF), Christian (Amanda’s older brother) and Evan (Christian’s BFF) – all of their lives are about to become entwined like never before and changed with the information they will gain throughout this book, Eileen and Christian especially. The storyline is good, packed with information as I said. The premise is that the gifted young adult is kept in the dark throughout their childhood about the gifts, world etc. and upon leaving school after their 18th birthday, are then issued with an invitation to enrol at Dever University – a closed off, secluded school for the gifted where they will then discover their power, learn the history of their ancestors and master their powers. It is a quite complex set up with elemental powers, fate readers, future seers and the likes and they all hone their skills at Dever with the chance to learn true magic known as wizardy. Dever is steeped in history and the history of the founding families who each brought a power exclusive to their bloodline and through the history and more specifically, a curse – our characters are the catalyst of a prophecy of sorts, that will see history repeat itself but also the breaking of the curse and has been mapped out for years, as you will come to discover. I loved this, the way the past has been used and brought to the present, the story and history of what happened, the plotting and planning, the twists and turns along the way, even how the reveals came about were great…. It was one of those books where you just have to keep reading, wondering what is going to happen next and what’s going to happen further down the line. It more or less is all headed to one point and it’s a matter of finding out information, the players, their reasons…then we have Eileen being prepared for her future, she is powerful even before her birthday and during this book we see her discover her powers and what she may be capable of when she reaches maturity. Her friends become her backbone, her support system and with the revelations she will discover in this, she needed them and what she had with Christian was just lovely, I’m a sucker for any fated/bound love along the lines of soul mates and I loved the symbol of that bond too. I have to say this was an excellent introduction to the series, it really got my curiosity going and I’m very interested to see where the storyline is going to go especially with all of the world building and ‘getting to know’ the characters is out of the way - I have high hopes for Eileen and everything she is meant to be and can’t wait for more of their love story.
