The Libby Garrett Intervention
By Kelly Oram
Release Date: October 24th, 2015
Publishers: Self Published
Genre: YA, Contemporary, Romance
Pages: 272
Buy: Amazon UK Amazon US

Libby Garrett is addicted to Owen Jackson's hot lovin'. But the sexy, popular college basketball player doesn't appreciate all of Libby's awesomeness. He refuses to be exclusive or even admit to people that they're dating. The relationship is ruining Libby and she's the only one who can't see it.

When Libby's behavior spirals completely out of control, her best friend Avery Shaw and the rest of the Science Squad stage an intervention hoping to cure Libby of her harmful Owen addiction. They put her through her very own Twelve Step program—Owen's Anonymous—and recruit the help of a sexy, broody, hard as nails coffee man to be her official sponsor.

Adam Koepp has watched Libby Garrett for years. How could he not notice the sassy girl with the purple skateboard and helmet plastered with cat stickers? But in all the years he's crushed on her, Libby has failed to take notice of him. Why would she when he was just a nobody high school drop out who served her apple cider several times a week? Especially when she was hooking up with a guy like Owen Jackson—a guy with a college scholarship and more abs than Kyle Hamilton.

Adam finally gets the chance to meet Libby when his co-worker Avery Shaw recruits him to take Libby on the journey of a lifetime. With his ability to play Bad Cop and his experience with the Twelve Step program he's the perfect candidate to be Libby's sponsor. But will he be able to keep his personal feelings out of the matter and really help her the way she needs? And will Libby hate him when he forces her to take an honest look at herself?

This follow-up companion novel to The Avery Shaw Experiment can be read as a stand alone. (But where's the fun in that?) ;)

Libby
Avery sighed. “This isn’t an attack, Libby, it’s an intervention.”
My head snapped Avery’s direction.  “Homegirl says what?”
Avery smiled again, but this time it was full of determination. “You have a problem, Libby. We’ve all come here tonight because we love you and we’re worried about you.”
“Okay, someone definitely cooked up something special in the chem lab or something. You’ve all officially gone mental. I’m not on drugs.”
Avery shook her head. “But your relationship with Owen is just as destructive.”
I’d heard enough. “An intervention?” They were comparing me to a drug addict and saying Owen was my crack? “I came here to apologize to all of you and this is what I get?” I jumped to my feet. “This is such equus ferus feces!”
I bolted for the door and got about three steps before Adam intercepted me, blocking the way like a lean, tattoo-covered wall of attitude. He stood in a typical bouncer’s stance with his feet shoulder width apart and his arms folded across his chest. Though he wasn’t particularly tall or bulky, he was still intimidating. I glared up at him. “And you’re a gluteus maximus!”
Adam’s face pulled into a frown and he looked to the group to translate. Aiden grinned. “That’s Libby speak for ‘This is horse shit’ and ‘You’re an ass’.”
Adam brought his gaze back to me, and I kept up my glare, refusing to take it back. I waited for him to flip out on me, but was shocked when his lips twitched as if he was fighting a smile. I had to be wrong, though, because there was no way this jerk had a sense of humor. “Get out of my way.”
He face hardened again. “You sit that luscious little gluteus maximus of yours back down on that couch right now,” he said, “or I’ll put it there myself.”
It really does not happen often, but I was rendered completely speechless. I was also unable to move, save the way my eyes tripled in size as I gawked at him. He gave me a dry look and added, “Capisce, Cider Chick?
Adam
When I looked at Libby, she shrugged as though she was as helpless in this situation as I was. “Help me, Coffee-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.”
It was so Libby.
“Okay.” I prayed I wasn’t making a huge mistake.
Kate and Avery both squealed and pounced on me, giving me hugs. I was still wary, but their energy was contagious and I cracked a smile.
“Thank you, Adam,” Avery said. “You really, really are the best. Is there any chance you could get started tomorrow? Libby managed to say no to Owen tonight, but if we don’t help keep her distracted tomorrow, she’s going to end up in his very expensive hotel suite tomorrow night.”
And just like that, all my reservations about this disappeared. I was all in, and failure was not an option. Libby was never going to end up in that jerk’s bed ever again if I could help it. “Tomorrow’s as good a day as any. I’m off work at two.”
Libby was already at the door trying to escape, but she stopped before turning the knob. “Actually, I need you ready to go at seven thirty in the morning. Avery already cleared it with your boss. He was more than happy to take your shift. He said he’s been trying to get you to take a vacation day for months.”
My head reared back. “You cleared my schedule tomorrow?”
Libby looked me right in the eyes and grinned wickedly. The smile did something to my insides. “You’re mine tomorrow, Coffee Man,” she purred jokingly.
I stopped breathing. Hers. Yes. Yes I was. Heaven help me, but I was hers. This was so bad. If I wasn’t careful Libby Garrett was going to break me. I had to take control of this situation fast. I don’t know what kind of look I had on my face when I stalked across the room toward her, but her eyes widened and she backed up until she bumped into the door. “You’ve got that all wrong,” I said, placing my hand on the door beside her head, trapping her in front of me.
I’d meant to intimidate her a little, but when she sucked in a breath and shivered, I lost control again. I leaned in a little too close and my next words accidentally came out in a possessive growl. “Starting tomorrow, Cider Chick, you are mine.”
This follow-up companion novel to The Avery Shaw Experiment can be read as a stand alone. (But where's the fun in that?)  The Avery Shaw Experiment is only $0.99 right now. So why wait until October to meet Libby when you can fall in love with her right now for only a dollar?

It’s been almost a year since eighteen-year-old Ella Rodriguez was in a car accident that left her crippled, scarred, and without a mother. After a very difficult recovery, she’s been uprooted across the country and forced into the custody of a father that abandoned her when she was a young child. If Ella wants to escape her father’s home and her awful new stepfamily, she must convince her doctors that she’s capable, both physically and emotionally, of living on her own. The problem is, she’s not ready yet. The only way she can think of to start healing is by reconnecting with the one person left in the world who’s ever meant anything to her—her anonymous Internet best friend, Cinder.
…
Hollywood sensation Brian Oliver has a reputation for being trouble. There’s major buzz around his performance in his upcoming film The Druid Prince, but his management team says he won’t make the transition from teen heartthrob to serious A-list actor unless he can prove he’s left his wild days behind and become a mature adult. In order to douse the flames on Brian’s bad-boy reputation, his management stages a fake engagement for him to his co-star Kaylee. Brian isn’t thrilled with the arrangement—or his fake fiancée—but decides he’ll suffer through it if it means he’ll get an Oscar nomination. Then a surprise email from an old Internet friend changes everything.

The Review: Kelly Oram is back with another smashing story with Cinder & Ella and I'm so glad she decided to try her hand at a fairytale re-telling but new adult style!

I won't re-cap the blurb for you because fairy telling stories are pretty much a given, what I will tell you is that even though we've all read the story of Cinderella, Kelly Oram definitely puts her own spin on the story and so Cinder & Ella becomes an unforgettable read. I loved it.

From the moment I started the story, I just knew I was going to love it. It's loveable and touching, and yes emotional but it's a story that you can root for and the banter from the characters is simply full of laugh out loud moments.

Cinder & Ella are fantastic characters and for me, I didn't think a couple could top Avery and Grayson from The Avery Shaw Experiments. And while they are still my favourite, Cinder & Ella come in a close second. I adored the connection they had and the message I felt that came across was that internet people can become a very real part of your life and I really connected with that part of the story.

In all, Cinder & Ella is a fantastic read. It's light, cute but also steamy with that added emotional touch. A perfect job well done by Kelly Oram!

Thank you to Kelly Oram for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you so much for letting me stop by today to talk about my new release! Cinder & Ella is a Hollywood-style adaptation of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. In the book, Brian and Ella share a passion for all things reading and fantasy. Ella has a book and movie review blog, and “met” Brian the day he wrote her an email about a post she’d written on his favorite book series. While they agreed that The Cinder Chronicles was the best set of books ever to be penned, and that the author was a genius,  that was pretty much where their mutual understanding stopped. Brian’s bold letter about Ella’s post, and Ella’s heated reply, sparked a strong Internet friendship that carried them both through some difficult times.

Excerpt from the book:
“I met Ella through her blog over three years ago, after I came across a post she’d written about my favorite book series.” He flashed the audience a devastating smile. “You guys might have heard of it—The Cinder Chronicles by L.P. Morgan.”
Cheers erupted, and after the noise died down Brian continued on. “She had this insane theory that Prince Cinder should have chosen Ellamara instead of Princess Ratana, which of course I absolutely had to argue with. I wrote a very nice and polite Letter To The Editor explaining how completely misguided her theory was.”
Brian chuckled, but I scoffed. “Nice and polite? He called me a pig-headed, naïve feminist romanticist!”
Everyone in the room laughed, and even I had to smile because a secretive smirk crept over Brian’s face. No doubt he was thinking about the exact same thing I was.
“When she wrote me back, it was love at first fight.”

For today’s blog tour stop, I thought it would be fun to share with you guys, the actual letter that Brian wrote to Ella, which you won’t find in the book. Enjoy!

Brian’s Letter To The Editor

Subject: Words of wisdom…?

More like the absurd ramblings of a pig-headed, naïve, feminist romanticist. As much as I respect your love for the greatest book series of all time, I simply cannot let your backwards ideas stand without argument. Ella, the real hero of The Cinder Chronicles? In what reality? Was Obi-Wan the hero of Star Wars? Or Mr. Miyagi the hero of Karate Kid?  I don’t think so. If Ellamara were the hero of the story, they’d have to change the title of The Druid Prince to The Boring Book About That Weird Chick No One Cares About.

And you think Cinder should have chosen her over Princess Ratana? ARE YOU CRAZY? Ellamara was a too-good-for-everyone, cryptic-just-to-be-difficult man-hater. All she ever did was give a bunch of vague, unhelpful advice and constantly harp on Cinder and try to change him. So typical of a woman. And she was way too stubborn—always thought she knew best, and always had to be right about everything. (Kind of reminds me of someone…)

Ratana was so much better for Cinder. I mean, come on. She was as fierce a warrior as he was. She was always up for an adventure, supported Cinder when he had risky ideas, and believed in him when no one else did. Plus, she was a princess. She understood the kinds of responsibilities Cinder had as the leader of his people. She was raised to be a queen. She could help Cinder run the kingdom after he took the throne. If Cinder had chosen Ella, it would have ruined the book.

I hate to say it but, as entertaining as your blog post was, it sounded a bit defensive. Are you sure you didn’t just hate the fact that Cinder chose the beautiful, fun, popular, rich chick instead of the quiet, shy outcast? Hit a little too close to home maybe? You know, they say our favorite characters are often the ones we can most relate to. Hence the reason Cinder is my favorite character ever written. He’s awesome. He’s impulsive and passionate. I’m impulsive and passionate. He’s under a lot of pressure. I’m under a lot of pressure. I’m awesome. He’s good looking. I’m good looking… You see what I’m saying?

You’re probably just like Ellamara, aren’t you? Only you’re much more capable of stringing together coherent thoughts. I bet you’re shy and awkward in real life, but you come alive online. You should stop hiding behind your blog. I’ve read a few of your posts. You’re funny, and though your opinions are severely misguided, you show a great amount of intelligence in your writing. Your wit and sarcasm are totally awesome. You’re pretty, too. I mean, the braces are a little unfortunate (been there, done that, hated it), but you still have a beautiful smile and your eyes are stunning. I bet if you borrowed a little of Cinder’s confidence you’d have the guys flocking to you like crazy.

From one die-hard fan to another, I sincerely hope this letter will help you realize how wrong you are, and that the book is absolutely perfect the way it is. But considering how obstinate you seem, it’s more likely we’ll have to agree to disagree. Still, your blog is pretty cool. Keep up the good work.

Sincerely,
Your newest follower,
Cinder458

A Review for Being Jamie Baker by Kelly Oram

Release Date: June 14th, 2010
Finished Date: October 25th, 2013
Publishers: Bluefields
Genre: YA, Paranormal, Romance
Source: For Review
Format: eBook
Pages: 353
Buy: Amazon UK / Amazon US

An accident that should end in tragedy instead gives seventeen-year-old Jamie Baker a slew of uncontrollable superhuman abilities. To keep her secret safe Jamie socially exiles herself, earning the title of Rocklin High's resident ice queen. But during a supercharged encounter with star quarterback Ryan Miller she literally kisses anonymity goodbye. Now the annoyingly irresistible Ryan will stop at nothing to melt the heart of the ice queen and find out what makes her so special. Unfortunately, Ryan is not the only person on to her secret. Will Jamie learn to contain her unstable powers before being discovered by the media or turned into a government lab rat? More importantly, can she throw Ryan Miller off her trail before falling in love with him?

The Review: Being Jamie Baker was a fun, easy read but also dealt with real issues and was quite emotional too and I would say that if you took out the paranormal element it could have easily converted to a YA contemp read. Jamie was a great character to get to know and it was very easy to connect with her. I thought it was very realistic how she was portrayed as an ‘Ice Queen’, she did keep everyone at arms length & when you read her story you understand why she puts on this façade but that all changes when Ryan strolls into her life. I love how they met, if was fun & daring and an awesome ice breaker between them, opening up a gap in the façade to let Ryan see a glimpse of the girl underneath….and hooking him instantly. I really liked how their relationship unfolded, I admired Ryan for his persistence, I felt so much for Jamie as she fought to keep her feelings sheltered in an effort to not only protect herself but Ryan too and sometimes my heart broke for her especially with how much upheaval her life has gone through.
The storyline was really good, easy to read and get involved with. As I said there are real issues, emotional issues but also there’s the paranormal element and as the blurb tells us – Jamie is a superhero – I like her powers and how she came about them, it all ties into her issues and only Jamie knows the real story of what happened, so we discover it along with all of the other characters. A lot of the book is devoted to the relationship aspect as our main characters begin a relationship but it is through Ryan’s determination to uncover the real Jamie Baker that we find out about her powers, he encourages her to test herself, to challenge her preconceptions and is such a positive influence that I think he could make anyone a better person. Of course there is your usual high school drama and some of it was very harsh on Jamie, especially when she started to open up because when you hide from your emotions for so long and let yourself feel again, it’s intense, the feelings are amplified and that adds to the drama too. The threat comes from unexpected sources and brings about a major twist towards the end but also opens up what could be a series threat and I look forward to that as much as I look forward to more from Jamie & Ryan. I would really like to see her put her powers to good use, she manages to control them a lot in this and we see some of their potential plus we get a couple of instances of her using them to help in this and I liked that, so hopefully more of that in the next book. This is a great start to the series though.

A Review for Chameleon (Supernaturals #1) by Kelly Oram

For small-town rebel Dani Webber magic and monsters are no more real than the Easter Bunny… until the day she accidentally stops time. Dani quickly discovers that not only do supernaturals exist, but she herself is one of them. This is great news for her life-long best friend Russ, who can finally come clean about his own supernatural status and his undying love for her. Before the two can start to enjoy the long overdue relationship, Dani is taken by a powerful council of supernaturals who believe she is the Chosen One destined to save them from extinction.

As if being kidnapped and expected to save the world isn’t bad enough, an ancient prophecy warns of the Chosen One’s dark nature: “Only the truest love will keep her an agent for good.” The council believes they know who this “true love” is and, unfortunately, that person isn’t Russ. The mysterious, powerful and devastatingly handsome Seer is the last person Dani wants in her life, but when she starts having visions of a horrific future, she has no one else to turn to for help.

Soon Dani finds herself torn between two very different boys with two very different opinions of whom she can trust. With the visions getting worse and time running out, Dani is forced to put aside her feelings and work with both the Seer and Russ before an ancient evil is unleashed upon the earth.

The Review: WOW, this book is totally amazing and had me hooked from start to finish.

I don’t feel I can add anymore to the synopsis and honestly, the synopsis is reason enough for you to pick up this book. In the beginning of the book Dani is just turning 16 and her best friend Russ is helping fulfil one of her childhood wishes & let her in on a little secret….. apparently, this isn’t an isolated incident and they are constantly pulling pranks & getting into mischief much to the chagrin of the local sheriff. They have a great friendship but you get the feeling that they could be ‘more’, so when Dani agrees to a date with another boy, we find that Russ can’t hide his feelings anymore – the thing is, the timing is so bad because Dani is about to make some other discoveries about herself and she isn’t the only one. There is a prophecy in the supernatural world and Dani is the centre of attention, people want her but she’s not going without a fight. Dani is the kind of character that you can connect with easily, she’s vivacious, she’s funny & she’s mischievous. Her & Russ –her best friend- are like two peas in a pod, always egging each other on. Their relationship was great and within the first 20% of the book, I was hooked on them discovering their feelings for each other, I mean I really felt it. It was so funny when she went on the date and you could tell what Russ was going through & what was happening but Dani was clueless. They made a great pair until the inevitable separation which brought Gabriel into her life. I liked Gabe, he is super sweet and naïve but I don’t know that he was going to be enough for Dani, I wasn’t feeling their relationship as much as the one with her BFF and definitely not the circumstances, I was firmly on team Russ & I thought Dani lost a bit of cred with me for how she accepted certain things and the indecision she went through, I wanted her to kick off more but she is still a great character.

The storyline was brilliant, as I said I was hooked from start to finish and is quite unique in a way, full of secrets, lies & deception. The premise was so good, it came across as two different worlds & rules. Dani had been brought up in our world and then thrust headfirst into the supernatural world without any knowledge of it. Things are so different for her that she struggles to come to terms with the way things are done. I liked all of the supernatural aspects, the different kinds, different powers etc. so I loved Dani’s power because it’s limitless but also a double edged sword – both a hindrance & a help – as you will find out. Of course there’s a big prophecy and yes, I’m a prophecy fan, I liked the way this unfolded and how it was shown throughout the book usually we get one big one at the beginning and then see it play out but this was a fluid prophecy, it kept moving and gave different outcomes which was great for keeping the story unpredictable. The pacing was great, always moving, lots of things going on, lots of theories…. I never knew who to trust, I thought it was one person then another and it kept me on my toes right until the very end which is another reason it never lost my interest. I did like the romance in it, to be honest I wish the characters were slightly older making the book more NA than YA because there were times when it had some steamy potential and that would have drawn me into the relationships even more but that’s just personal preference and didn’t stop my enjoyment of it. Chameleon is a must read for sure, a brilliant start to a series I will definitely be adding to my TBR list & reading any sequel that follows.

Blog Tour for The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram; Review, Guest Post + Int Giveaway.

The Avery Shaw ExperimentPosted by Donna
Release Date: July 4th, 2013
Finished Date: May 12th, 2013
Publishers: Bluefield (Self Published)
Source: For Review
Format: Kindle
Pages: 278
Buy: Amazon / Barnes & Noble

When Avery Shaw’s heart is shattered by her life-long best friend, she chooses to deal with it the only way she knows how—scientifically.

The state science fair is coming up and Avery decides to use her broken heart as the topic of her experiment. She’s going to find the cure. By forcing herself to experience the seven stages of grief through a series of social tests, she believes she will be able to get over Aiden Kennedy and make herself ready to love again. But she can’t do this experiment alone, and her partner (ex partner!) is the one who broke her heart.

Avery finds the solution to her troubles in the form of Aiden’s older brother Grayson. The gorgeous womanizer is about to be kicked off the school basketball team for failing physics. He’s in need of a good tutor and some serious extra credit. But when Avery recruits the lovable Grayson to be her “objective outside observer,” she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for, because Grayson has a theory of his own: Avery doesn’t need to grieve. She needs to live. And if there’s one thing Grayson Kennedy is good at, it’s living life to the fullest.

The Review: "When a girl lets you be the one to hold her as her entire world falls apart, even though you're ass naked, it changes the way you see her. The soaking-wet, see-through t-shirt didn't hurt, either."

I was first introduced to Kelly's work a few month ago and so, Avery's story is the third book of Kelly's I've read, and honestly, Kelly never fails to leave an impression with her lovable and hilarious novel's. I doesn't know how she managed to create this many novels that are so jam packed with laugh out moments, and because of this, The Avery Shaw Experiment is easily my favourite read of Kelly's so far.

Avery and Aiden have been best friends for life. Their mother's meet each other while they were pregnant and ever since, Avery and Aiden have shared everything together. When Aiden tells Avery he wants some space from her because he's got a girlfriend, Avery's heart-broken. She's been secretly carrying around her love for him, and the only way she believes she can move on, is by proving the best way to get over a broken heart, is to used the seven stages of grief. With the help of Aiden's older brother Grayson, Avery finds that moving on can be fun, however at times it's quiet difficult. Can Avery move on from her first love or is there someone else just waiting around the corner?

The Avery Shaw Experiment is this year's summer read!! It's geeky, captivating and so much fun. Avery and Grayson truly make this novel wonderful to read because they're both so great. Grayson is easily my favourite out of the two though, just because of how much humour he brings to the story, I can't remember the last time I laughed so much while reading a story, you can see what I mean below;

"It is what it is Aves. I'm a warm-blooded guy standing naked in a shower, holding a girl whose t-shirt is drenched and clinging rather poetically to her surprisingly impressive figure." - Grayson

“I’ve got news for you, Aves. When a guy says he wants to take you out in the name of science, he’s totally full of it. He really just wants to take you out.”

“But you’ve taken me out like a million times for the experiment. You kissed me once in the name of science.”

“Exactly.” -  Grayson to Avery

The story itself at times was predictable, but not once did I get bored or want to put the story down. It was still a fantastic read and one I'd highly recommend to anybody. And what I really loved was how much time Kelly or the graphic designer took putting the graphics together for this book. The cover alone is beautiful, the details are spot on, and each chapter has cute graphics too that go so well with the story. So bravo to whoever created it!

In all, The Avery Shaw Experiment is a gem of a read, one that any fan of YA contemporary will easily fall in love with. I know I did and I'd love to see more books like this from Kelly.
The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram Guest Post & Giveaway.
Aspiring social scientists Avery Shaw and Grayson Kennedy were required to keep detailed journals of all their exploits during The Avery Shaw Experiment. Only the participants of the 2013 Utah State Science Fair were allowed access to these records, but we're in luck because the ever-sneaky, privacy-invading author Kelly Oram has managed to get her hands on those journals and has decided to share them with the world. Today's featured entry has been stolen from the pages of Grayson's diary. Enjoy!

“Self Control, Or Lack Thereof” (Grayson)

I am such an idiot. I totally screwed up tonight. But Aves was just so cute that I forgot I can’t treat her like any other girl.

It started after school when she came up to me in the parking lot after school, all red in the face, saying she had something for me. I was intrigued, but it just turned out to be the boxer shorts I’d pinned to her wall last night. I was a little bummed that she didn’t want to keep them, but, then, she did seem almost petrified of them. She blushed so deep when she handed them over that you’d think she’d been the one to take them off me personally. It was hilarious! The girl seriously kills me with how prude she is.

Then, as if that weren’t enough, she demanded that I let her help me study for my physics test. She actually crossed her arms and stomped her foot down when I started to say that wasn’t necessary. She was trying so hard to look stern and I laughed at her because Avery is not the stubborn demanding type. When I laughed, she got mad and yelled at me that she knows I’m smarter than I give myself credit for and that she was going to prove it to me, and I had to just deal with it.

Part of me wanted to laugh again because she was being so adorable, but I had this strange feeling in my chest that kept me from doing it. I didn’t know what to say. Nobody ever thinks I’m smart, and they definitely wouldn’t go out of their way to help me fix my grades. I’ve never really had anyone believe in me like that before except for my parents.

Avery is too freaking sweet for her own good. My brother is such a tool for throwing her away like he did. The idiot. Oh well. His loss is my gain. I’ve decided that Avery is mine now, and I’m not giving her back to him even if he does manage to pull his head out of his butt someday and realize what a mistake he made.

Anyway, back to Avery. I really hate studying, but how could I say no to her? I plopped her in the front seat of my car and took her back to her place where I had my first ever study-date that actually involved studying. Well, it had the pretense of studying. My textbook was open anyway.

Avery was trying to help me study, but it was really hard to concentrate when we were on her bed and she smelled good enough to eat. I think it was her shampoo. She had her hair in these two braids like some kind of farmer, and every time she leaned close to me to point something out in my book, her hair would brush against me and I’d get this whiff of strawberries and cream. It was driving me crazy!

Avery was trying so hard to keep me focused, but all I could think about were those adorable braids. I kept tugging on them and I knew it was driving her insane, but I seriously couldn’t help myself. Finally she snapped at me to stop it, so I pulled the rubber bands out of her hair and untangled the braids.
Bad idea. Taking a girl’s hair down is such a turn on.

Aves froze when I started undoing her braids. I didn’t mean to invade her personal space like that, but once I’d started I couldn’t stop myself. The moment was too freaking hot! I got the braids undone and then ran my fingers through her hair to shake it out.

I wanted to kiss her so bad. Her lips were right there. My hands were tangled in her hair. I wanted to lay her back on the absurd mound of stuffed animals behind us, and kiss away all of her innocence.

Too late, I realized my mistake. The girl was freaked out. Her face was white as a sheet and she stared at me with her big blue eyes full of shock. She’d also stopped breathing.

I waited for her to go into one of her panic fits, but it’s like she was too shocked to even accomplish that. Since she wasn’t having a complete meltdown, I decided to go with the whole pretend-it-didn’t-happen tactic. I shrugged, told her the braids had looked too dorky—even though they didn’t—and then asked some really stupid question about something sciencey.

Avery let it drop, but she wasn’t the same after that. She sat further away from me, she spoke a lot softer and a lot less, and she didn’t laugh again for the rest of the night.

I wanted to kick myself for being so stupid! I know Avery isn’t the kind of girl who makes out just because the moment is right. She hasn’t even ever been kissed! I’m a world-class jerk just for thinking about it!

I am so in over my head with this project. I had no idea it would be so hard to control myself with Aves. I mean it’s Avery for crying out loud! She’s practically been a little sister to me all my life. And she’s not even hot! She’s only cute. But all of the sudden cute has become irresistible. The girl is constantly in my head. She’s under my skin. I even asked her to go out with me tomorrow night, and I wasn’t thinking about the experiment. I just want to take her out.

I’ve got to keep it together. I’m going to have to plan something in a large group and very public. No more hanging out alone together, or I’m going to end up kissing her, and it’ll probably send her into a shock coma.
