When half–wolf shifter Frankie Newman receives an e-mail from a family member she didn’t know existed, a secret is revealed: as a child, Frankie witnessed her father killing her mother…and then himself. Frankie was torn from her pack by her mother’s human relatives, and the trauma was erased from her memory. Realizing that she’s been lied to her entire life, she’s never felt more alone. Until she catches the scent of an old friend—warmly familiar and intoxicating.

Trick Hardy, enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, can sense the rush of mutual attraction when he sees Frankie again. He knows immediately that she’s his true mate. But he also knows that, given her fragile state, he needs to tread with care—no matter how fierce his surging desires.

As aroused as Frankie is by Trick’s darkly dominant air and simmering desire, her priority right now is her past—not her future, no matter how tempting. But as more secrets emerge and Frankie’s life is threatened, Trick must do everything he can to keep her close and safe. After all, it’s their destiny

The Review: Wild Hunger is the seventh book in the Phoenix Pack series by author Suzanne Wright. I adore this series and I always look forward to reading a new book featuring these awesome characters.

The story follows Frankie Newman, a half shifter, who has always known her shifter father murdered her human mother and then himself, however what Frankie doesn’t know is the extended family she was forced to leave behind when her grandparents took her in. When she is contacted by Lydia, her aunt and who is also a member of the Phoenix Pack its then she realises her life has been a lie and she desperately wants to discover the truth. And it’s there she is reunited with Trick Hardy, an enforcer of the Phoenix Pack. Trick instantly knows that Frankie is his mate. The problem is the connection is blocked from Frankie’s and Trick knows he needs to tread lightly if he wants to keep Frankie in his life. So as Trick works his way into Frankie’s life its then dark secrets start to emerge.

I enjoy Suzanne Wright’s books regardless of enjoying some more than honest. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the last book and I’ll be honest with you, Wild Hunger failed to appeal to me as much as her recent Mercury Pack books did.

I’ve been desperately waiting for the author to write a story where the characters know their mate from the first meeting. I’ve been waiting for what feels like ages and I have to say now that I have it, I’m kind of disappointed. I just can’t understand why I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping. It might have been because the story suspense between the two main characters, or maybe it was because the story was just a little bit predictable, and I can’t help feel like while I enjoyed getting to know these characters more, the plot of the story just felt a little bit too convenient and it was very easy to work out who the real bad guy was in the story.

I have to say I was glad for once that Greta wasn’t her usual normal annoying self. I complained about her in my last review and I’m glad my prayers were answered. She was much more bearable in this book and I’m hoping we can see more of her like this.

In the end, while Wild Hunger wasn’t a favourite, I still look forward to more books in the series. I understand I’m not always going to enjoy every book but I can still be hopeful that I will.

Gwen Miller may be a human, but she has no problem taking a stand against her own kind. She’s going to testify against the teenage boy she saw viciously assault a lone shifter female—and no amount of pressure from the boy’s wealthy family will make her back down. But when the harassment turns violent, help comes in the form of a lean, toned wolf with winter-gray eyes.

As a guest at Gwen’s inn, shifter enforcer Zander Devlin can’t help but notice that the fierce and leggy brunette is in serious trouble. Since she’s putting herself at risk for one of his kind, keeping her safe is the least he can do. That’s not the only reason Zander wants her close. He desires her, even as the wolf inside him backs away from her. But his feral instincts are hard to keep down, and as they take shape, they’re harder for Gwen to resist. Then again, embracing them could be the only thing that could save her life.

The Review: I love The Phoenix/Mercury Pack series. I love them both and I don’t really see them as different series because they are linked in so many ways still but after a little break from this world, I’ve finally read Lure of Oblivion and it was really good.

Lure of Oblivion follows shifter enforcer Zander Delvin and human Gwen Miler. Zander and Gwen meet while Zander is staying at Gwen’s family Inn in Oregon after his Uncle passes away and has to be present for the reading of his will. However while staying at the Inn, Zander quickly comes to realise that Gwen has problems because she is trying to help a female shifter who was recently drugged and beaten by a group of local boys. Now Gwen is paying the price for standing up to the family.

This was so good. I really enjoyed this book! Mainly because I loved that the romance was drawn out – there was no insta-love or instant connection etc. It takes a while for things to heat up between the two characters, not ages but it gave the story the suspense to make it very enjoyable. I really like Zander and Gwen as characters, they certainly weren’t expecting each other and I loved seeing their reactions as the story unfolds. Even though Gwen is human she is far from weak and definitely the perfect match for Zander.

It will be interesting to see where this series goes next and whose story will be told as well. So hopefully we won’t have to wait long for some news! I can’t wait either way.

When raven shifter Riley Porter was given sanctuary by the Phoenix Pack, she let them believe she had left her flock. Reluctant to divulge the secrets of her past, she was still embraced as family. Only Tao Lukas, the protective and passionate Head Enforcer of the pack, was resistant to the enigmatic shifter. Until Riley started to arouse in him something other than suspicion.

Tao doesn’t trust lone shifters, especially ones so guarded—and tempting. But the sexual tension between them is making them both come undone, and vulnerable to more than desire. All Tao wants is for Riley to stay with him and to trust him with the truth of her past.

As Riley’s mysteries come to light, so does a danger that threatens not only her life but the safety of the entire pack. For Tao, keeping Riley safe means keeping her close—forever—as his mate.

The Review: I hate to say this but is it me or is this series starting to feel a bit repetitive? Gaah! I adore this series and the authors work but with the release of the last few books I’m starting to find more and more faults with them and I honestly don’t want to. I want to love them all but for me Fierce Obsessions was my least favourite book from the series.

This story started WAY too quickly. There was no suspense, no build up, it was just WHAM and the story had already started before I even knew it. I guess I felt a little cheated. Tao has been always been a favourite character of mine so I was majorly excited when he was getting his own story but something about his and Riley’s story just didn’t click. I’m not sure if the author gave us any hints that the story would involve Tao or Riley (maybe I forgot if she did, I don’t know) but I was a little surprised that Riley was Tao’s love interest. And that’s not because she’s a raven shifter which was pretty cool to read about but, because I never felt any hint or spark between the two characters during previous books. It’s like the story starts and Tao is already so in love with Riley that he’ll do anything for her – it was all just so quick.

I also wasn’t a fan that most (I say most, I mean half) of the book taking placed away from the Phoenix territory. Tao and Riley leave pretty early on to go visit her Raven pack and I wouldn’t have minded but it was so early on that I wasn’t invested in Riley that much as a character to care what happened before she became a lone Raven. I wanted to get to know Riley more before having to get to know all the people from her life before and also I wanted more time to explore Tao and Riley’s relationship before being whisked away from my favourite pack, so yes, I felt it took me away from the story a little.

And Greta – I used to find her funny now she just grates on my nerves. Please do something about her!

The rest of the story was pretty enjoyable to read and I loved being back with my favourite characters. I understand with a series this big that I won’t enjoy every book but I feel like the last few have been a little rushed and I’m hoping the author will slow down a little. I will continue to support the author and this series because I do love them, it’s just a shame I couldn’t enjoy this one more.

Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger.

When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.

Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he’s not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

The Review: The Force of Temptation is book two is Suzanne Wright’s The Mercury Pack series and this time around the story is about enforcer Jesse Dalton finding his mate. However Jesse lost is true mate at a young age so he will never be able to find another true mate but there is a little margay shifter who he has claimed without her knowing it. Harley Vincent has moved from place to place after being unsafe in her current pride. Now living in California working in a club Harley doesn’t know that Jesse is days away from coming to claim what is his but when extremist target Harley, Jesse comes sooner than he planned and takes her under his packs protection. But can Jesse and Harley overcome the obstacles that non-true mates face?

It’s no secret that The Phoenix Pack and The Mercury Pack series are one of my favourite shifter series and so of course I look forward to the release of every book that Suzanne Wright writes in this world. And The Force of Temptation was just a good as all the other books. If anything with each new book the series continues to get stronger and stronger.

I really loved Jesse and Harley’s story. It was definitely something different from what we’ve previously seen from the other couples but interesting nonetheless. I loved it because it wasn’t predictable but even though I’ve read their story and love it – I’m worried. I’m worried for this couple that I’ve come to love and never want to see torn apart but I can’t help but think ‘what if Harley’s true mate finds her?’ I’m hoping that it never comes to that. I was hoping that Suzanne would somehow make them true mates but that never came but still, like I said, I loved it but I’m just a little worried.

Even though most of this series focuses on Jesse and Harley, there is still so much going on within The Mercury Pack compound. They’re being blackmailed by a half-shifter who wants to build on the neighbouring land and also with the extremists on Harley’s case, it’s a dangerous time for any shifter.

What I loved most about this book was that Harley was a margay (cat) shifter rather than a wolf shifter. It’s nice to be introduced to other shifter species. I’ve noticed other species have started popping up within the story so I’m looking forward to seeing more from them and hoping it means we could potentially have more spin-off series in the future.

Overall, The Force of Temptation is a fantastic read one that any fan of this world will love! I for one cannot wait for more.

She’s a lone wolf with a cause.

As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters—the same one that rescued her—Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she’s eager to help connect the two. She just wasn’t prepared to feel a connection of her own.

Lone wolves are loners for a reason—and most of them bad. Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he’s sure she’s the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack’s sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash…

The Review: Savage Urges is fifth book in Suzanne Wright's The Phoenix Pack series and I'm so pleased that this series is still going strong!

In Savage Urges we see enforcer Ryan finally get his own story and we have Makenna who is a new female to the whole series. Makenna is a lone shifter works at a shelter and helps other lone shifters find their long lost relatives. When a teenage shifter turns up on her door step Makenna knows she will do everything in her power to reunite him with his family. This is where Ryan comes into the picture. The teen is Ryan's cousin whom he no longer has contact with but when Ryan discovers he has family that needs his help, he's more than willing do so even if that means spending time around Makenna - even though he can't trust her because of the life style she has chosen. The problem is, the instant he meets Makenna he knows there is something different about her - something feels different to how he normally feels around women and even though there is that trust issue, Ryan is determined to get to the bottom of it even though Makenna is reluctant. But Makenna needs someone to lean on now more than ever when her life is suddenly endangered for trying to help the lone shifters.

I just adore Suzanne Wright's work! This series for me is definitely my favourite shifter series. Admittedly I haven't found many that compares so this is why this makes this series even more special and why they're my favourites. I really enjoyed Makenna and Ryan's story. I've been struggling to find time to read a lot lately and visiting a world that I'm already familiar with - and love - definitely helps me because I just know I'm going to enjoy it. And I did.

Ryan's always been an interesting character for me so it was great to get to know him more and discover more to his story. Ryan's always been a very quiet character in the previous books, he grunts more than talks so like I said getting to know him properly was good because now I feel like I really know him. He does struggle socially throughout the story, the more he opens up to Makenna and comes to understand their bond, it does make him more of an open character. Maybe not as open as some of the characters but still I can understand more now why he's so dedicated to the Phoenix pack and his Alpha.

Makenna really was a wild card in the story. Sometimes I find it difficult when new characters are added into a series but her story was an interesting one along with her being an interesting character. She did lack the 'pack vibe' and what I mean by that is because she's a lone wolf, she never feels connected to anything or anyone. She doesn't quiet understand the pack safety or safety net. So she does go on quite a bit of a self-discovery journey though-out the story. But overall, I felt she fit nicely into the Phoenix world and her story definitely added to the drama/danger that the Phoenix wolves always seem to be in.

I have to say though as much as I LOVE this series I really am looking for something different for the next book. I've adored all the previous stories but I'm a little over the 'we feel a connection but don't know where mates thing'. I'd really like for a couple to know instantly they're mates - kind of like Nick & Shaya. I want a different journey for which ever couple is next. Something different from what we've been given. Even if I don't get this wish I still think I'd enjoy it but it's time for something different I think.

Overall, Savage Urges was a good read and one I'll look forward to re-reading in the future.

Ally Marshall isn’t just a wolf shifter — she’s a Seer.

But a girl doesn’t exactly need special powers to know that Derren Hudson despises her entire kind. Disdain practically rolls off the Beta of the Mercury Pack . . . disdain mixed with a healthy dose of desire. And no matter how much the ruggedly handsome male appeals to her, this is one call of the wild she’s determined to ignore.

After one betrayal too many, Derren doesn’t have much use for Seers — except for Ally.

Forced into acting as her protector, he finds himself intensely and passionately drawn to the woman who incites his primal instinct to claim.

And when enemies target the pack, Ally’s gift may be just what the Mercury Pack needs.

Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

The Review: If you’re reading this series then you’re probably aware of the author’s Phoenix Pack series and that is where you will have met most of these characters and whilst it’s not important to have read that series, it helps to know who everyone is and the dynamics of the two packs and what had caused it…. Needless to say, this was just as awesome an opener to the series as the previous series. I really liked the characters in this and thought Ally was a very capable heroine, her circumstances weren’t great and I really felt for her situation – her boyfriend found his true mate and that mate was alienating Ally from her whole pack – she was really stubborn and determined and I liked that about her. We all love a good hate to love scenario and that is what we get here because with Ally being a seer, Derren being prejudiced against seers – someone is going to have to work on their preconceptions. To be fair, it isn’t just Derren that hates seers, it’s the whole pack…. So Ally has some hard work cut out for her in changing their minds and the only reason Derren took her to his pack is because he owes a favour to someone. It was fun to read about them both fighting their attraction, with Ally being a seer, she is very empathic and actually feels the emotions of those around her so it can’t have been easy in the beginning when all she felt was distrust and animosity. Obviously they get down and dirty with each other and they certainly steam up those pages both believing that they aren’t forever but as always…. Fate has other plans.
I really enjoyed the story line in this, it was exciting and dangerous with multiple attacks on the Mercury pack that brought some action and violence to the plot. We know the problem the pack has had with seers so Ally is there to remedy that and make them see that they aren’t all self serving, it was good of her to challenge their misconceptions and I liked how it was handled. The reason she ends up with the Mercury pack was really good and totally set the tone of the book so that we don’t exactly know if it’s the pack or Ally that is being targeted because the attacks come strong and fast. Ally has a protector who more or less ordered Derren to take her in until he was able and what a great addition he was to the plot – I would LOVE his book and his brothers! There are a lot of shifting dynamics between neighboring packs plus Ally’s old pack as the Mercury pack really go all out and make an impact. It was great to see some healthy sized cameos from the Phoenix pack and I loved what they injected into the story too. I’m just as excited about this series as I was about the other so it promises to be more good stuff!

Can he put his distrust aside, or will he force himself to turn his back on the one woman who makes his inner beast howl?

The Review: I just can’t get enough of Suzanne Wright’s shifter books! Spiral of Need is the first book in the spin-off series to Phoenix Pack. I’ve been addicted ever since I read Feral Sins and so I’m thrilled that she’s widening the shifter’s world by writing this spin-off series and Spiral of Need was an instant favourite!

Spiral of Need follows Derren Hudson - the beta of of the Mercury pack and Ally Marshal a dominant wolf but she is also a seer. Most people hate seers' because they abuse their gift and Derren hates them with a passion. Actually most of the Mercury Pack do. So when Ally is being targeted by her beta female, a close friend of Ally's reaches out to Derren and the rest of the Mercury pack and asks them to take Ally in for her own protection. Derren reluctantly agrees but when Ally's gift starts becoming helpful to the Mercury and Phoenix pack they and including Derren start warming up to Ally, and soon Derren's feelings turn into something more.

I really, really love Suzanne Wright's books and with each new shifter book I find I love her work more and more. I don't think I've found any other author that quiet hits the spot like Suzanne - and I would love to find more, so if anyone has any recommendations, I'd really appreciate that.

What I love about these stories is the mix between the relationship and the plot of the story. It's always woven together so great that leaves you on the edge of your seat. The romance is totally swoon-worthy and always so suspenseful and then the remaining plot is dangerous and so fast paced that it's impossible not to love. I love how the plot changes from each book. It makes me wonder what is next to come and I can't wait!

Derren and Ally were fantastic characters. With Ally being a new character introduced I had no background information until I started reading but I immediately loved her. She's feisty, sassy and very sharp. She's got skills that are seriously impressive and I thought she had a lot to offer the Mercury pack. She needed someone like Derren, strong, loyal but more importantly someone who she could connect with over their bad start in life. Derren and Ally were a great match and I enjoyed every minute of them together.

In all, this was a hit, a massive hit and I can't wait for more from Suzanne Wright!

It happens whenever wolf shifter Roni Axton is near Marcus Fuller: a crackle of sexual awareness that’s intoxicating…and deeply annoying. Marcus is a pack enforcer who oozes power, but Roni is lethal in her own right—nothing like the flirty females who flock around him. Even still, his possessive gaze makes one thing clear. Marcus has singled her out for seduction, and he wants to make her sit up and beg.

No matter how aloof and unfazed Roni acts, Marcus can tell she wants him. When a brutal attack by a jackal pack forces them to work together, it’s the perfect opportunity for Marcus to chip away at her defenses—until he falls into his own trap, completely unprepared for the intensity of their connection. Roni is the only one who’s ever seen past his shifter charm and discovered the man hiding beneath it. And for Marcus, claiming Roni once will mean needing her forever.

The Review: I love this time of year. Why? Because it means we get more from Suzanne Wright and I definitely want more from the Phoenix Pack series. If you can’t tell, I LOVE THIS SERIES and I was desperately waiting for the release of Dark Instincts.

Dark Instincts follows Roni and Marcus. Marcus is an enforcer for the Phoenix Pack and a very well-known ladies’ man. And Roni is tomboy-enforcer for the Mercury Pack where her older brother is Alpha. Ever since Marcus and Roni first met, they’ve both felt drawn to each other but because of Roni’s dark past, Marcus slowly works his way into her life. Marcus loves a challenge and Roni is probably his hardest one yet but there is something about Roni that Marcus can’t deny and it’s the way he acts around this female – something that’s never happened to him before that he can’t understand why. And the same goes for Roni. Before she knows it, this male has worked his way through her defences and will not stop until he gets what he wants – her. But the one thing Marcus doesn’t know is how much Roni wants him in return. Can these two get over their differences and heal each other’s past to make a better future?

I loved this instalment of the Phoenix Pack and yes, I’m still left wanting more. I have so many hopes for this series and so far, Suzanne Wright has not let us down. I just love how exciting and dangerous the stories are and how much romance oozes from the pages – it’s scorching hot and with each book, the plot of the story just keeps getting better and better.

Roni and Marcus are a fantastic duo. Both of them are strong, powerful characters with a good sense of humour and if I’m honest, pretty scary when they’re angry. You honestly do not want to be on the wrong side of these characters. But that’s what I love about them. They are two very similar characters but both different in their own way and they really suit as a couple.

Like I said before with each book, the plot of the story gets thicker and thicker and better and better and I'm really excited to see what comes next. I love how there is so much going on in the story that it's never a dull moment and I'm even more pleased to hear we're getting Derren's story - the first book in the Mercury Pack series in September. September people! Yay!

In all, The Phoenix Pack series is my favourite shifter/romance series and Dark Instincts didn't disappoint me. Another fantastic read from Suzanne Wright!

Thank you to Montlake Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

CHAPTER ONE

Opening your eyes to find that you’re upside down can’t be good, can it?
Through the cobwebs clouding her mind, Roni Axton realized that it wasn’t just she who was upside down. The car had toppled over.
Well that sucked. Clearly the fuck-up fairy had made an appearance.
Strangely, Roni felt no rush of panic, no fear. And despite that she was pretty sure her head was bleeding, there was no pain. There was only a feeling of weightlessness. Even the fact that her wolf was frantic didn’t disturb Roni in this dreamlike moment.
Her brain distantly registered that the car kept leaning sideways, as if something was repeatedly pulling at it. But it was the various sounds that penetrated her mental fog: low moans, a phone ringing, a child crying, and strange voices arguing.
Sensing that the ringtone and the moans were coming from her left, Roni turned her head to find a male wolf shifter in the driver’s seat, eyes closed. Tao. Huh. Odd that the Phoenix Pack’s Head Enforcer was with her. She rarely hung out with anyone outside her pack. In truth, Roni counted very few people as friends.
Sadly, she was very like her brother, Alpha of their recently formed Mercury Pack, in that she found social situations uncomfortable. In Nick’s case, it was because he didn’t like most people. In Roni’s case, it was because most people didn’t like her. Even when she was a kid, she’d found making friends difficult, especially at school. It was kind of hard to fit in when you were a tomboy with a higher IQ than that of your teachers.
It probably made things worse that she didn’t “get” her own gender. But she just didn’t see the appeal behind constantly gossiping, shopping endlessly, asking deep personal questions, or having different lotions for different body parts.
Roni was more comfortable around guys, particularly her two brothers and her Beta male, Derren. Men didn’t care that she wasn’t a people pleaser, or that she didn’t know how to satisfy social niceties, or that she preferred chocolate to living beings of any species. The only female she thought of as a friend was her Alpha female, Shaya, who—
A succession of memories suddenly hit Roni hard: Shaya singing to a toddler in the backseat, Tao playfully grumbling about the noise, the sound of tires screeching, an unexpected impact to the side of the vehicle, a blow to her head that made everything go black.
Grasping onto those threads of memory, Roni remembered how she had escorted Shaya—who was two months pregnant—on a daytrip to the zoo with Shaya’s godson, Kye, and his bodyguard, Tao. The Alpha female had wanted a break from Nick and his extreme overprotectiveness. It was during the drive back to Phoenix Pack territory when a car had slammed into theirs.
And then she’d gone and passed out like a girl. How embarrassing.
Blinking rapidly, she swiveled her head as much as she could. She might have winced at the sharp pain that lanced through her neck if she hadn’t been distracted by the fact that Shaya wasn’t in the backseat beside a still crying Kye. That was when Roni noticed the female body sprawled like a ragdoll on the grass a few feet away from the vehicle. Fuck.
The dreamy quality of the moment disappeared as reality crashed into Roni, and her wolf howled in fear and rage. One word dominated Roni’s thoughts: Out. She had to get out.
Forcing a reassuring smile for Kye, who was squirming in his safety seat and reaching for her, she crooned, “It’s okay, little man. Give me a second and I’ll—”
The car wobbled sideways again. “This crowbar is a piece of shit!” griped an unfamiliar voice.
“Hurry up!” ordered an equally unfamiliar voice. “We don’t have much time before someone shows up. Coleman and Axton will sense through their pack links that something’s wrong with their wolves.”
The stranger was right about that: she could sense Nick’s rage and anxiety. She could also sense Shaya through the pack link; she was alive, but unconscious.
“I can’t open the door, it’s jammed.”
A growl. “Move. I’ll do it.” The car swayed again. That was when Roni understood what was happening. Someone was yanking at one of the rear door handles, trying desperately to get inside . . . trying to get to . . . Kye. Oh the fuck no.
Roni awkwardly fought to unclip her seatbelt. It eventually snapped open, and she cried out at the sensation of falling onto a bed of glass. She shelved the pain as she righted herself and began to slide toward the backseat on her stomach. “Tao, wake up! Get to Shaya!” All she received was another moan.
“Shit! One of them is awake!” Rather than flee, the strangers redoubled their efforts to open the door.
Their efforts paid off.
Just as the top half of Roni’s body wriggled through the gap between the seats, the door was yanked open, and a tanned arm reached for Kye.
Roni unsheathed her claws and sliced at the limb, causing it to flinch away. Her wolf growled her approval. “I swear to God, if any part of your body tries to touch him again, you won’t get it back intact!”
“You bitch!” Two arms reached inside this time, both sporting claws of their own. One set of claws acted as a barricade between her and Kye while the other set cut through the belt that secured Kye’s safety seat to the car. In a lightning fast motion, the arms caught him before he and his seat could crash to the floor.
Roni stabbed her claws through one long, muscled arm, past bone, and all the way into the rear seat, pinning the arm in place. He howled in pain, hurling obscenities at her. Well, she had warned him; he’d chosen to ignore her, so there was really no need for that kind of language.
With her free hand, Roni worked Kye’s belt open. His little body toppled out of the safety seat and onto her outstretched arm. If her wolf could have sighed in relief, she would have. Curling her arm around him, Roni pulled him tight against her body. Only then did she release the would-be-kidnapper from the grip of her claws.
She was feeling a hint of victory when someone grabbed a fistful of her hair from behind. Turning her head as much as the strong grip would allow, she realized that the second male had come at her from the other side of the car. He held her in place by her hair while the other shifter frantically struggled to drag Kye from her grasp. The toddler was wailing and clinging tightly to her, absolutely terrified. When two large hands got a firm grip on his little waist, panic bit into her. No, no, she wouldn’t let—
Her hair was suddenly released, and a scream mingled with a familiar animal growl that meant Shaya had shifted into her wolf form. While Roni was relieved that she was conscious again, Roni did not want the pregnant female, ruthless or not, fighting a male shifter.
“Don’t shift!” the other male yelled. “A car’s coming!”
Footsteps thudded along the ground as the two males disappeared from view. Seconds later, there was the sound of a car speeding away, and a heavy sense of relief surged through Roni.
Hearing Shaya’s wolf pawing at the vehicle, whining, Roni assured her, “We’re fine.” But, really, Roni wasn’t fine. Her head was now throbbing, her body ached in several places, and her vision was starting to blur and darken. If she passed out again, she would be seriously unhappy. Dominant females did not pass out, dammit.
“Roni, how badly are you guys hurt?” Shaya asked, back in her human form.
Roni wanted to answer her Alpha female; wanted to ask Shaya how injured she was and reassure her that everything would be fine. But Roni’s mouth suddenly felt stuffed with cotton, her chest felt tight, and black spots were dancing before her eyes. Worse, there was a horrible ringing sound that made her head pound even more.
She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Her wolf began to panic once more as the ringing became deafening and a dark veil fell over Roni’s vision.
Then there was only blackness.

When female wolf shifter Taryn Warner first encounters Trey Coleman, an alpha male wolf shifter with a dangerous reputation, she’s determined to resist his charms. After all, Trey—who was only fourteen when he defeated his own father in a duel, winning the right to be alpha of his pack—can’t have anything to offer the talented healer besides trouble, or so she thinks.

Taryn finds herself drawn in by Trey’s forceful demeanor and arctic-blue eyes, and she eventually agrees to enter an uneasy alliance with him. If the two succeed in convincing their respective packs that they’ve chosen each other as mates, Trey will win valuable political allies, while Taryn will escape an odious arranged mating.

But there are a lot of potential pitfalls to this plan—including the very real possibility that the wolf shifters, overwhelmed by their growing attraction to each other, will be unable to maintain the clear heads needed to pull off the deception.

The Review: “You’re all there is for me, Taryn. I’m broken baby. You know that. Before you… it was like those bits of me were just scattered all over the place. I’ve never felt whole. Not until you. You hold those pieces together. It’s not an exaggeration when I say you hold my sanity in your hands. Without you, I’d fall apart.” - Trey

Every now and then I’ll come across a book that really blows me away and this was truly one of them books.

British author Suzanne Wright writes a fantastic and seriously steamy read with Feral Sins. I think this is my first time reading an adult book based around Shifters. Usually it’s always vampires, so I loved every minute of being introduced to the Shifter world. The fact that Suzanne Wright is a UK author makes it all the more special to me, mainly because most of my favourite books are wrote by American authors and, being British myself, it makes me very pleased to have come across another phenomenal UK writer – there really aren’t that many that I’ve come across (so far).

Feral Sins was just A-MAZ-ING. I heard it was good but I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but I was completely blown away by everything. I loved it that much that I think I need to buy a paperback copy just to have it sitting on my shelf. The story itself oozes with sexual tension, hot and steamy scenes and Trey and the rest of the Phoenix Pack – wow, H.O.T.T hot! I couldn’t believe how easy it was to fall in love with every single (nice) pack member. The banter and humour that came from this book really had me laughing out loud. Taryn – who is a very feisty and dominate female had such a mouth on her. She never held back and really had some fantastic one liners like this;

“Hey, I have a suggestion, why not put a condom over your head – if you’re going to act like a complete dick then it makes sense to dress like one.” – Taryn

“If I want your opinion, I’ll kick it out of you, okay?” – Taryn

And so did Dom;
“There’s no way a woman could possibly resist your charm”
Dominic smiled. “Or my dick. Don’t worry, I won’t get it out. I don’t want you all to get intimidated. and in the interest of health and safety, I think it’s better that he’s not unleashed.” - Dominic

But what really made this book shine was Trey and Taryn’s connection. Who would have thought that a deal between two people could turn out to be the best thing that’s ever happened to them? Well it was, and it was so touching to read about. Their story is also raw and very real – it’s painful and sometimes scary but, I love the possessiveness the shifters have over their mates. I know some people won’t agree with me on that but, to be truly loved and be forever with someone, it’s beautiful and, the sex between them is amazing, plain and simple!

“You just don’t get it, do you? You have no idea how important you are to me. I need you to be okay, Taryn. I can’t be without you, you have to be here and okay or I would be able to fucking function.”

I’m excited to see what comes next in the series – I know it’s Dante and Jaime’s story and I can’t wait. I’m hoping Suzanne also plans to write books for my other favourite characters like Dom, Tao and Trick.

In all, I loved Feral Sins and I’d highly recommend you read it, if you’re a fan of this genre. Suzanne Wright has created a gem of a book and I plan on reading more of her work!
