I fell in love once. It was amazing. She was amazing. Life was amazing. I lived for each time I could see her, and nothing else mattered, not that our families were enemies, our time together was forbidden, or we had to meet in secret. Our love could conquer all. Until it didn't. So I was ripped away from the love of my life and shoved into hell, forced to continue without her. It shattered me, broke the best parts of me, left me permanently damaged.
Or so I thought. Years later, I swear history’s trying to repeat itself because she’s back in my life, and I’m just as drawn to her as I was before. But I'm older and wiser now, and I know she should stay away from a worthless piece of ex-con like me. So, I will not let her in. I absolutely refuse to hurt her. I will keep her away. Then again, sometimes risking your greatest fear to get to a smile makes everything worth it, and besides, I’m not sure I can resist her, anyway. This is the story of how Felicity Bainbridge changed my life forever, starting one summer day long ago after I was forced to change a dirty diaper...
--Knox Parker

The Review: Worth It is book 6 in the Forbidden Men series by new adult author Linda Kage and it was so good to be back to this series!

Knox Parker and Felicity Bainbridge families have always been enemies especially after one of Felicity’s brother got Knox’s sister pregnant as a teenager and denied he was the baby’s father. But Knox is determined to get some payback on behalf of his sister and doing so, he meets Felicity and they secretly form a bond, a relationship that they spend the summer hiding from they’re families. Until one night their worlds come crashing down and Knox’s ends up in Jail but Felicity is determined to wait for Knox.

Fast forward 6 years and Felicity decided she couldn’t wait for Knox after he was sentenced for committing murder while in Jail but fate has other plans when Knox is released from Jail and somehow ends up working at Felicity’s work place but Knox has changed so much from the 18 year old boy that Felicity once knew. And while Knox is determined to stay away from her, Felicity is determined to crack the hard shell on the man she fell in love with all those years ago……

I was excited to read Knox and Felicity’s story just because they seemed to pop out of nowhere at the end of the last book and left everyone wondering just who these people were. I was so looking forward to reading their story because it sounded completely different from what I’ve previously read and while I enjoyed it, I just felt the story has a few issues.

Like I said, I did enjoy the story. I loved how we got the back story to how the main character’s journey started. It was entertaining and full of sweet romance. I liked how the story was set in past and present tense. It really adds to the suspense of the story and makes us readers sit on edge waiting for the part we all know was coming – the reunion. However for me, this is where the story started to bug me. I just felt so coincidental that he’d bumps into Zoey, Pick and then of course Felicity. I guess I was expecting a bit more of a run around like Knox trying to find Felicity or something. This wasn’t my only issue though. I felt that Linda built up a good story and then at the end decided to throw a huge secret into the story that for me felt unnecessary – it just felt so dark for the story when the story was already dark enough as it was. I guess I could say okay, I understand that something bad happened to Knox but I really didn’t enjoy the characters explaining – in detail – to Felicity the events. It left a sour taste in my mouth and yes, I understand that this type of stuff happens to people but I felt the events were hashed out a bit too explicit for my tastes and felt the way it was delivered to Felicity could have been handled without so much details.

Even though I did have issues with the story, I still did enjoy Knox and Felicity’s journey together. I’m even more excited for the next book though…yes, I can’t wait!

Let your hair down, Caroline, they said. It'll be fun, they said.

I know I've closed myself off in a major way over the past year, ever since “the incident” where I messed up my life completely. It's past time I try to live again or just give up altogether. But this is quite possibly the craziest thing I've ever done. In a last ditch effort to invigorate myself, I'm standing outside Oren Tenning's bedroom, I just peeled off the sexiest pair of underwear I own, and my hand is already raised to knock. My brother would disown me for doing anything with his best friend, and he'd probably kill Oren. But if I play my cards right, no one will ever know about this. Not even Ten.

Maybe after tonight, I’ll finally get over this stupid, irrational crush I hate having on the biggest jerk I’ve ever met. Or maybe I’ll just end up falling for him even harder. Maybe I’ll discover there’s so much more to my crude, carefree hunk than meets the eye.

The Review: I’ve been dying to get my hands on Ten and Caroline’s story ever since I first heard they were getting their own book. The wait was torture but finally it’s here. It’s here!

Oren Tenning plays the field, he plays girls and he’s more than happy to tell everyone about his conquests. But the one girl he wants Caroline Gamble, he can’t have because to do so would mean losing his best friend.

Caroline Gamble has been attracted to Oren Tenning since the moment she meet him. The problem is, he’s best friends with her brother and therefore she knows Oren won’t touch her. She knows because she’s tried twice and twice she’s been turned down by him. But Caroline is determined to get the man she wants even if she has to resort to extreme measures.

I absolutely loved A Perfect Ten and I couldn't have asked for a better outcome from Caroline and Ten's story. I just loved the way this whole story was set up - it's something very original and in all honestly, fun. Caroline has some major balls to do what she did - I don't know if I could have done it no matter how much I wanted a guy - but bravo to her. She went after the man she wanted and even though it was a bumpy ride, it was a great journey and it was highly emotional, entertaining and hard to put down. I loved every minute of it.

Ten and Caroline are a great duo and if I'm honest, they're very similar characters and have a lot of qualities the same. I really enjoyed that because it showed that they were the perfect match for each other.

And as normal, another reason I love this series is the support the characters get from the other characters that feature in the series. I love the older one - that have already had their stories told but then I love the new ones like Asher - yep! And I'm definitely excited to see more from Parker. In all honestly, I don't want this series to ever end so I'm going to continue to look forward to more books in the Forbidden Man series.

In all, A Perfect Ten is a perfect TEN star read!

Thank you to Linda Kage for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

EXCERPT #1
The entire notion was crazy. I would never in a million years actually go through such a thing.
An hour later, thousands of voices in my head shrieked. “For the love of God, Caroline. What’re you doing?”
“Shh,” I hissed at the annoying shits. “I’m doing this.”
I slipped inside the front door to Quinn, Oren, and Zoey’s apartment. If anyone caught me, I already had an excuse handy. I was here to see Zoey. To talk important girl stuff. Yeah. That sounded good. And I really would talk to her if I was caught...about the fact that I’d lost my ever-loving mind!
Pausing at the beginning of the hall, I took a moment to bolster my nerve. Oren’s bedroom was the first door on the right. Only ten feet away. Drawing in a deep breath, I started to step forward when an idea hit me. Scrambling, I reached under my skirt for the panties I’d raced home to change into, and I peeled them down my legs.
I know, I know. They were the nicest underwear I owned. Why was I taking them off before he could even see the goods? Well, probably because, if we stayed in the dark like we were supposed to, he’d never see them anyway. And tonight, I just wanted to be bold and promiscuous. If I was really going to do this, I was going to do it right.
Pantyless, I stopped in front of his door and lifted my palm, but instead of knocking, I set my fingers against the wood. He was on the other side of this door, waiting for me.
Okay, fine, waiting for some other girl. But if I knocked and went inside, it’d be me he took.
A thrill raced up my spine, and butterflies danced in my stomach.

I knocked.

*New Adult Romance*

I used to think everything was black and white, truth or lie, easy or hard, that if I could just escape my strict, overbearing, abusive father, my life would be perfect. But since I’ve found a reason to risk his wrath and leave, to help a friend in need, I’ve come to realize everything I thought I knew is wrong.

Friends have their own agenda, honesty comes with a dosage of lie, easy doesn’t even exist, keeping secrets sucks, and love...love is the most painful thing of all.

Maybe if Quinn Hamilton hadn’t asked me to skip classes for the day and help him pick out an engagement ring for my best friend, I wouldn’t have fallen for him so completely on that sunny Tuesday afternoon and I wouldn’t feel so conflicted. But I did, and I can’t take it back, no matter how hard I try. So I have to deal with the fact that even I’m not as good, or honest, or caring as I’d always thought I was, and no matter what I do next, someone’s going to get hurt. Probably me.

-Zoey Blakeland

*Don't worry! The hero and heroine are not cheaters.*

The Review: I was counting down the days until a copy of this book landed in my lap, so thank you Linda Kage for continuing with one of my favourite series and giving me more from my favourite men.

In With Every Heartbeat Quinn Hamilton is happily dating the first girl he ever slept with. He’s content and pleased that someone like Cora loves him because he’s always believed that people with a past like his can’t be loved.

Zoey Blakeland, running from her father to help the one friend whose stuck by her all these years is now moving to college to live with Cora. But upon meeting Cora’s boyfriend Quinn, she knows that she has to try and stay away from him because there’s definitely something between them and she refuses to betray her best friend.

As Quinn and Zoey fight their attraction for one another, what they don’t know is that Cora is playing her own game and Quinn and Zoey are both her pawns in her little game.

As soon as I heard Quinn was getting his own story, I was immediately excited. I was hoping that Ten was going to be first but after reading With Every Heartbeat I could see why that couldn’t quiet happen yet because Ten wasn’t ready yet. Anyway, back to Quinn and Zoey’s story. I loved them. I really did. I was little unsure about Zoey’s character to start with, just because I’d never met her before so there were a lot of introductions to start with but, honestly  she fit right in with all my favourite characters. I did feel that with Zoey being new to the group that it did slow down the first 30% of the book, mainly because there was a lot of talk about how all the other characters go together and where they were at with their relationships. Maybe if Zoey already knew the characters before With Every Heartbeat it may have kick started the start of her story quicker. Anyway, despite this very small issue I had, I still loved the story.

I’ve always been a fan of Quinn and I couldn’t wait for more. He’s such a loyal, honest, devoted guy and quiet guy that will do anything for his friends. Sometimes it’s easy to forget what Quinn is capable of because he is the shy guy but I loved seeing other sides of his personality shine throughout the story.  But one thing I hated about Quinn’s story was Cora. That girl was hard to stomach. I hated the way Zoey and Quinn were so loyal to Cora and more so because Quinn and Zoey are both such good people that they see the good in everyone but for me, Cora was pure evil. Evil! And I didn’t feel sorry for her just one bit.

I really enjoyed the plot of the story. I found it intense and hard to put down. I was curious how Linda Kage was going to pull of the story and not have the two characters cheat and the way she did it was really good. So this is NOT A CHEATING book! You’re safe people. LOL.

In all, With Every Heartbeat is another great addition to this remarkable and lovable series and I’m so glad I don’t have to wait long for Ten’s story.

Thank you to Linda Kage for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

The Perfect Boyfriend picks up right where we left Reagan and Ian in The Boyfriend List.

As their friendship blossoms quickly into a steamy romance, Reagan and Ian have to learn to navigate their shifting relationship…and everything that entails. But their newfound bliss doesn’t come without a few unexpected challenges.

In the midst of realizing just how sweet the romance can be between them, and all the benefits of their new dynamic, Reagan is informed that her ideal situation has changed. Not only will she need to begin taking on more classes to speed up her graduation date, but she’ll also have to start looking for a job to supplement her fading income. Meanwhile, Ian has chosen to pull out of school once his father is diagnosed with a terminal illness in order to help manage the family business and spend time with him while he still can. But he wrestles with the guilt of leaving Reagan behind, and the pressure of his new responsibilities.

As the two meet their new challenges head-on, they’ll be forced to discover whether or not they’re as compatible as lovers as they were as friends. With their focus pulled in so many directions, will they have what it takes to keep a long distance relationship alive? Can Ian prove that he’s still be the perfect boyfriend, or will they fold to statistics under the growing tensions of their lives? Throw in some manipulative exes, a new boss with an inflated ego, and a co-worker from hell and the two have a recipe for either a fairy tale ending, or a complete disaster.

The Perfect Boyfriend is a New Adult Romance about trust, love, and discovering the true depths of personal strength.

The Review: Be My Hero is the third book in the Forbidden Men series by author Linda Kage and gosh, I thought To Professor, With Love was fantastic but Be My Hero, with its sweet and lovable story has definitely become my favourite of the series so far!

I very much devoured Be My Hero. Once I started it was impossible to put down. Linda Kage’s writing had me hooked from the start and even with all the drama that Pick and Eva’s lives brought I just didn’t want it to end.

Pick and Eva’s story was simply amazing! After meeting both Pick and Eva earlier on in the series, I just knew together they would be great – and they are! What I didn’t expect was for their story to blow me away as much as it did. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story where the main character was pregnant with another man’s child, so this was a first for me. But that’s not all, Pick has a child too. He takes care of his best friend’s son who he sees as his own son, so together Pick and Eva’s story was very similar but, each had its own twist. Each of them had difficult pasts which you find out at the very start with the prologue. It’s something they don’t dwell on. I loved that. I loved that they were strong characters. But I think what stood out for me the most was I don’t EVER recall coming across a couple who were both so caring, loving and who have such big hearts like Pick and Eva. I found their story very touching and full of hope, so just simply beautiful.

In all, Linda Kage has raised the bar! Her work is beautifully written and very detailed. I really feel like she’s found her groove writing these new adult stories especially this series, and I’m just left wanting more. I want more Quinn, I want more Oren, I want more Brandt, I want more from everyone in the series and I can’t wait, and I’ll be definitely checking out some of her other new adult titles while I wait for Quinn’s book!

Louise Beaumont is renowned for her sharp wit, smart mouth and sassy personality. She comes out swinging in an argument, even when she’s wrong. But even some events in life can knock her on her arse. And fighting through the sludge of emotional pressure she’s had poured over her is taking its toll.

Johan Senior is broken. A man with a deeply traumatic past, shadows and monsters haunt his every waking hour. That is until a heavenly angel is sent in the form of a loud mouthed chestnut haired vixen, who threatens his manhood countless times. But his heart grabs onto her and refuses to let her go. The only problem is, his mind needs to allow him the pleasure of human touch, and to take that terrifying step of allowing someone into his heart.

Part of the Surviving series but can be read as a standalone novel.

Ada Frost:
Hi! What to say about myself...I don't really have anything interesting to offer other than I love to read, and create stories for others to enjoy. I've always been told I have a vivid imagination, I just lacked the confidence to pursue putting it onto the the written page. But finally I embarked on making a single dream come true.

I love to read, and write. I only read romance, any genre really, but it has to have a beautiful romance. I also demand a HEA, even if it takes two or three books to get there. Reality is too broken and jaded without having to live through the trauma and angst in a book for it to end unhappily.

*New adult romance*
**Explicit scenes and language**

Junior in college. Star athlete. Constant attention from the opposite sex.

On this campus, I’m worshiped. While seven hundred miles away, back in my hometown, I’m still trailer park trash, child of the town tramp, and older sibling to three kids who are counting on me to keep my shit together so I can take them away from the same crappy life I grew up in.

These two opposing sides of myself never mix until one person gets a glimpse of the true me. I never expected to connect with anyone like this or want more beyond one night. This may be the real deal.

Problem is, Dr. Kavanagh’s my literature professor.

If I start anything with a teacher and we’re caught together, I might as well kiss my entire future goodbye, as well as my family’s, and especially Dr. Kavanagh’s. Except sometimes love is worth risking everything. Or at least, it damn well better be because I can only resist so much.

The Review: Engaging, steamy and emotional, To Professor, With Love is a forbidden story full of heart-warming and hot scenes!

It’s been a while since I read a book by Linda Kage. The last time I read one of her books was the first book in the Forbidden Men series, Price of a Kiss and although I can’t remember every single details about it - like I said, it has been a while – I do remember I really enjoyed it. I have to say though I definitely enjoyed To Professor, With Love more. I know some people will be put off by this story because of its teacher/student story line but I’d like to say this definitely stands out from some of the other similar stories out there. It’s not as black and white as most are. There are certain elements to this story that makes it refreshing and unique and honestly, a fantastic read and it’s certainly one I’d recommend!

Noel and Aspen really were a great duo. Their narratives really get you hooked and completely invested you in their story.  I think what made me enjoy them so much was how lovable they both were. Sure, they had their issues, many in fact but it’s something they overcome and I really feel they become much better people together that continue to grow throughout their relationship. Their story was exciting and dangerous but their love for one another was stronger and I guess you could say I was proud with how they handled everything. It sure was emotional but it’s just what I love about a new adult story.

As I said before, I enjoyed this more than Price of a Kiss. The reason for that is because the first book was very much a stand-alone book, not too many secondary characters that stood out to you and made you want a sequel. But with To Professor, With Love and it being Aspen and Noel’s story, she found a great way to bring Mason and Reese into their story and I loved it. I really did. I loved how she involved so many more secondary characters and with the hopes of more books to come from the new characters I quickly came to love. I’ve noticed Linda Kage’s work improves with each book she writes and I simply can’t wait for more!

Favourite Quote: “You. Are. Mine … I don’t care how wrong we are for each other. I don’t care that I’ll never be good enough for you or that we’re risking everything to be together. Your mother would never approve. Whatever. F**k it all. You are f**king mine. And I’m yours. And we belong together.”

Thank you to Linda Kage for giving me the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an honest review.

A Review for The Stillburrow Crush by Linda Kage

Sixteen year old, Carrie Paxton, isn't the most popular girl in her small town of Stillburrow. But that's never concerned her before. Her life revolves around her writing, and she loves her job as the student editor of the school paper.

But when she gets assigned to interview the football team's beloved quarterback, she takes one look into Luke Carter's blue eyes and is a goner. Suddenly, she doesn't like her lowly rank so much. Then her dreamy, popular crush surprises her when he starts to act as if he likes her in return. But there's no way Luke Carter could possibly ever like a nobody like Carrie Paxton. Is there?

The Review: This was my second book by author Linda Kage and yet again, she doesn't disappoint. The Stillburrow Crush is another sweet contemporary romance novel and it's one I really enjoyed.

Carrie Paxton lives in small town which seems to revolve around money. There are the rich and the poor and for Carrie, she's classed as poor. So when her school star quarterback, rich boy Luke Carter starts taking interest in her, she's more than a little wary. She seems to think he’s after something from her but could Luke really be interested in just Carrie?

The Stillburrow Crush is an interesting story that surrounds the life of Carrie – a spitfire of a character whose bark is worse than her bite. She’s quite a hard character to warm to too start with because she’s always so defensive, but she does have her reasons. She believes people judge her because her family isn’t rich and because of this, she’s a bit of an outsider who doesn’t let many people in. My heart went out to Carrie at times because I wanted her to open up to someone and when Luke started being interest in her, I wish she have just given him the benefit of the doubt. However, I do see why she was so hesitant. Not only that but she has a lot of family problems – which add to the emotional part of the story. She really goes through a lot with her family – especially her brother, who I felt deeply sorry for but he was a great addition to the story. Now Carrie’s relationship and family problems, I felt she was an interesting character that was funny at times and by the end of the book, we see a whole new Carrie. I enjoyed the relationship she had with Luke, despite their problems but overall, I was glad they were dedicated to each other enough to make things work.

All in all, this story is a surprising, emotional and sweet read – if you’re a fan of Linda Kage then I’d highly recommend you pick this book up to add to your collection.

Thank you to Linda Kage for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

A Review for The Color of Grace by Linda Kage

Meet sixteen-year-old Grace Indigo:

Hey. When my mother remarried after thirteen years of being a widow, I had to move to a new town and enroll in a new school. Suddenly thrust into an entirely different kind of life, I just wanted to go home. I didn’t want to meet new people, didn’t want to leave my old friends, didn’t want to become a third wheel to my mom and her husband...and I really didn’t want to see Ryder Yates again. Ugh, I still don’t know why I turned down that too-good-to-be-true boy who flirted with me when we were attending separate schools.

But honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was worse.

Who knew becoming lost in a new life could help a girl find her true colors?

The Review: "I'm never one, distinct color but a dichotomy of dark and bright. The hues follow me, reflecting my mood, displaying every tone and shade I feel. I can breathe in red and exhale blue, or swim in green and dry as a rainbow. It all depends on how I choose to react to every shadow and light beam headed my way."

I hadn't heard of this book until the author asked me to review it and I really did jumped at the chance to read it because I never have enough contemporary romances books for review. The Color of Grace is a sweet, heart-warming and emotional read, one that had the perfect mix of love and hope and really made it a very enjoyable to read about.

I really liked The Color of Grace, it's a story about a girl, attending a new school where she becomes slightly popular - which is different from her last school, because she was classed as a nerd there. She's also experiencing dating for the first time in her life - which is a little scary for her and not only that she's having family issues with her mother and new step-dad. So yeah, there's a lot going on in the book but everything works and clicks together perfectly.

Grace is a sweet young girl who has a great personality. It was easy to connect with her so when she cried, I cried, when she laughed, I laughed and it was an interesting feeling to go through the motions with her. She comes across quite shy but she's more than happy to stand up to Ryder when she thinks he's in the wrong. I really liked Ryder - definitely book boyfriend material. He stands out from everyone else, he's not like his jerky friends and really does have a good heart. I really love the relationship between him and Grace, even though it has its up's and down, it was really sweet to read it all coming together. Some of the secondary characters were great too, like Grace's friends but there are some horrible ones. My main problem was with Grace's mum, she was mean and just never believed anything Grace said. It was pretty clear to see she was being manipulated though so I guess that explains her behaviour.

Overall, The Color of Grace was my first book by author Linda Kage and it will not be my last. I'm hoping this author writes more YA Contemporary because I will definitely read it.

Thank you to Linda Kage for giving me the opportunity to review this book.
