US vs UK (#11)

Welcome to Book Passion for Life's 11th US vs UK book cover battle. We've seen this posted on a few other blogs, and thought we'd jump on the band wagon!

The idea of this battle is once a week we'll post 2 sets of books of our choice, one US cover and one UK cover, and we'll just give our opinion on which one we love the most. Which cover captures the story, which one would catch our eye if we saw it on the shelf in a shop. The US cover will be on the left, and the UK cover will be on the right.

The Scores so far are:
US: 3  UK: 3  Draw: 4

US vs UK Round 11

Fury by Elizabeth Miles

 vs

Jess says:  Hmm interesting. I think I'm going with the US for this one. It catches the eye a lot more. I love the font, and I love how the girls hair is entwined with-what I can only assume-is fire in the background. Its beautiful.

Donna says:  I thought it would be a nice idea to this book this week as it seems to be popping up everywhere. Lol. The covers though....I much prefer the UK one. I don't like the US cover....its just do dark and the colour of the hair I find quiet distracting...it almost makes it look old fashioned.

Which do you prefer?

This Lullaby by Sarah Dessent

 vs

Jess Says: Another two gorgeous covers. I like the simplicity of the US, and the noise and confusion of th UK. Hm, this is a tough one. BUT I think I'm going with the UK for this one, I just prefer the colours and extravagance of it all, it would definitely make me pick it up.

Donna Says:  I completely agree with Jess. Something about the UK cover completely draws you in, the colours, the different pictures are all great and I it stands out a lot more than the US one. UK for me.

Which do you prefer?

I'd have to say that I like the US covers on both. I never realized that covers were different internationally! I mean, I live in Germany right now and the covers are different here but I figured the language difference was part of why. Very interesting!

Thanks for sharing!

This weeks covers are hard ones to pick. I say UK for Fury it is just a little more different and I find white covers striking. And This Lullaby I love both but I maybe the UK one a little more :)

I like the UK covers for both, especially Fury (though the US one is cool too). I have a completely different cover for This Lullaby, I think it's the first version printed in the UK (has those loveheart sweets on it). But I much prefer the new cover :).

I love the US cover for Fury although both are beautiful. And for some reason, I've always loved the UK covers for Sarah Dessen books.

I prefer the UK covers of both books. Both the Fury ones are nice, but the UK one stands out, whereas the US one is just a pretty girl with red hair on the cover. The US cover for The Lullaby is a lot better than other Sarah Dessen books I have seen, but I definitely prefer the UK editions of all of them!
Though the French editions of Dessen's books are by far my favourites! (You can find them here, but keep in mind I have not read the books! I just think they're prettier!)

I think I'd totally go for the US cover of Fury, but I'm kind of diggin' the UK cover for The Lullaby. :)
