My Book Boyfriend (#26): Take them home for Christmas special + Giveaway: Featuring the Poughkeepsie brothers

My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. What is My Book Boyfriend you might ask.  Well it is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon.  If you are interested in participating please check out the My Book Boyfriend Introduction Page over at Missie's blog The Unread Reader.

Alright ladies (and gentlemen if there are any). I have a Christmas special for you today.  I'm going to triple team you all today (I mean that in the most non sexual way ever). I have three special boys-men-for you. They are foster brothers,  Beckett Taylor, Cole Bridge, and Blake Hartt. And these three foster brothers all come from Debra Anastasia's new novel Poughkeepsie. So here they are...:

Beckett Taylor
Description: Tall, muscular and tattooed. He's s a mobster. Even though he's a little bit evil he has a kind heart towards children and his foster brothers. He goes all out to try and protect his brothers and the people they love. Including murder. His personality is magnetic, and if he even looks at you, you blush.
Quote: "Beckett wasn't ready to leave. Cole and Blake might never understand
how much he hungered for their monthly meetings. He loved feeling like
Poughkeepsie he had a family. He was so used to watching his back and striking first. The easy camaraderie they shared was a balm on his frazzled nerves. Their matching
tattoos were the only ones any of them had.

Beckett pulled himself up into the Hummer. He’d wait a little longer,
just in case. There were a lot of illegal, deadly things stored in Beckett’s car,
but the only thing he kept hidden was the cd he now pulled out from under
the driver’s seat. He slipped it in the player and turned on the power, letting
the classical music sweep over him like a cool breeze. It was the soundtrack
of his boys. The music that saved them. Blake’s music."

My model for Beckett today is Australian ex-rugby star turned model, Daniel Conn. I found that Beckett was a hard one to picture. When I think of mobsters in fiction I always seem to picture them Hispanic (no disrespect to any Hispanic followers). So I emailed Debra and told her, I was having trouble thinking of Beckett. She gave me a few suggestions, and most of them were pretty good. But they weren't dark enough for me to use as Beckett. So I went on a hunt and came across Daniel who is, lets face it, extremely sexy, and I decided that he would be my Beckett, because Beckett is extremely sexy and manly! So there you go, Daniel Conn is foster brother number one, Beckett Taylor.

Cole Bridge
Description: Cole isn't a priest, but he's a priests assistant. Like Beckett, Cole lives to protect his brother Blake. All three of them have the same tattoo on their arms as a symbol of their brotherhood. Cole is mysterious and sad at the same time. His features were classic and handsome, his skin precise shade of mocha.
Quote:  "Ky, this isn't a frat party. It's an empty church. Where's this ride coming from?" Livia asked. "I'll make sure she gets home," Cole said, his eyes never wavering from Kyle's face. Livia reached into her unresponsive sister's pocket and retrieved the car keys. As she left the church shaking her head, she heard Cole saying Kyle's name again and again. It was like he'd just discovered fire, and Kyle was the main ingredient."

Jesse Williams, is Debra's choice for Cole; and I completely agree with her. He's exactly how I pictured Cole when reading Poughkeespie. He's classicly handsome enough, clearly. We had no more suggestions for Cole, so we settled on Jesse straight away. So there you go, Jesse Williams, is brother number two, Cole Bridge.

Blake Hartt
Description: Blake is a gentleman. His manners are impeccable. His eyes are a shimmering green, and his dark blonde hair falls into his face. He manages to look debonair in his worn jeans, even though his hair is unruly it always looks clean and shiny. Blake is a contradiction to the homeless.

Quote: It was his turn to whisper. "Would you mind very much if I kissed you?" She shook her head and waited, very still. Blake lifted his other hand to touch her face. Livia had to work not press her skin into his fingers. His touch was light as a breeze. He traced the features of her face. He trailed his fingers down to her throat and up to her earlobe. He's so gentle. As soon as the thought flashed through Livia's mind, Blake grabbed a fistful of her hair, yanking it enough to make her gasp. Then he kissed the living hell out of her.

Ah Jonas Armstrong. He's our Blake. Just pretend he has green eyes instead of blue, and you have the perfect Blake. He was Debra's choice, and again, I agree with her. So there you go, Jonas Armstrong is brother number three, Blake Hartt.

Take them home for Christmas Poughkeepsie Giveaway!

About the bookHe counts her smiles every day and night at the train station. And morning and evening, the beautiful commuter acknowledges him—just like she does everyone else on the platform. But Blake Hartt is not like the others . . . he’s homeless. Memories of a broken childhood have robbed him of peace and twisted delusions into his soul. He stays secluded from the sun, sure the world would run from him in the harsh light of day.

Each day, Livia McHugh smiles politely and acknowledges her fellow commuters as she waits for the train to the city. She dismisses this kindness as nothing special, just like her. She’s the same as a million other girls—certainly no one to be cherished. But special or not, she smiles every day, never imagining that someone would rely on the simple gesture as if it were air to breathe.

When the moment comes that Livia must do more than smile, without hesitation she steps into the fray to defend the homeless man. And she's surprised to discover an inexplicable connection with her new friend. After danger subsides, their smiles become conversation. Their words usher in a friendship, which awakens something in each of them. But it’s not long before their bond must prove its strength. Entanglements from the past challenge both their love and their lives.

Blake’s heart beats for Livia’s, even if her hands have to keep its rhythm. Love is patient. Love is kind. Love never fails. Love never fails, right?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't noticed until recently that Jessy Williams was also the guy in this one Rihanna music video. x.x

Is it horrible that I might have not had that much interest in this novel if you hadn't posted this post? But the visuals. I mean.. I now know how these guys'll look like. Oh, boy, this is so shallow. I also love the cover, which is AGAIN shallow. "Mom, would you buy this book for me?" - "Sure, what is it about?" - "No idea, but there was a hand on the cover.." Damn.. I should say something deep.. Um.. uuh.. uuuuuuh... *sigh*

No, I actually read your post, so.. I think the blurb sounds promising. Most protagonists lately are special because of their looks but it seems Livie is a special and very lovely person.

Damn, now I want to order it.. *will.. wait.. until.. winner is announced* >_<

Thank you for the great Giveaway!

Yes! I love this trip play. That Cole is perfect, but I have to say, my favorite brother was Beckett, by far! He was a beautiful menace. I love the model you picked for him. Super HOT! And just like I pictured Beckett.
