US vs UK (#27)

Welcome to Book Passion for Life's 27th US vs UK book cover battle. We've seen this posted on a few other blogs, and thought we'd jump on the band wagon!

The idea of this battle is once a week we'll post 2 sets of books of our choice, one US cover and one UK cover, and we'll just give our opinion on which one we love the most. Which cover captures the story, which one would catch our eye if we saw it on the shelf in a shop. The US cover will be on the left, and the UK cover will be on the right.

The Scores so far are:
US: 5  UK: 12  Draw: 8

US vs UK Round 27

Fins Are Forever by Tera Lynn Childs
 VS

Jess says: Ok, this is easy for me. It's the US cover. I like the UK cover but I'm sorry it's just wayyyyy too Barbie for me. The US cover has at least stuck with the colour theme from Forgive my Fins, I prefer the US to the UK. It's all too pretty for me.

Donna says:  I'll say right now...UK, UK, UK!!!!! Ha! The UK's cover a frigging awesome, I love them. I love all the mermaid designs, the seashells, the bubbles...it's just so damn cute. I like the US but I don't understand all the blue? Is that to show she's under water? Who knows. But yeah I also like that the UK cover has Doe on there rather than Lily.

Which do you prefer?

Daughter of Smoke and Bones by Laini Taylor

 VS

Jess says: Difficult one. I've read the book and I loved it. I like that the US cover has used Karou on the cover, the mask is a significant part of the story so I like that. I do also love the UK using just feathers. BUT I think I'll go for the US on this one. It's a lot more orientated towards to the story.

Donna says:  Oooh this is a tough one. I honestly can't choose! I really like both but I guess if I was going to buy one, then I'd go with the UK. I love the colours and the silver feathers. I'm not to keen on the person on the cover of the US though so UK for me.

Which do you prefer?

I prefer the US covers for both books. Especially with DOS&B book. The mask relates to a certain point in the story . . . just love it!

UK for both. I think the UK covers for the Fin series are just so cute and daughter of smoke and bone I used to prefer the US one until I seen the UK one in person its stunning and fits better with the full story

I really don't like any of the Fins Are Forever covers, but if I'd have to choose, I'd go with the US one. I agree with Jess. The UK cover looks too Barbie.

For Daughter of Smoke and Bone I actually like both, but again, if I'd have to choose, I'd go with the UK one. I love the feathers in the background, the colors and the font.

I don't like either of the Fins books, but if I had to choose, I'd go with the US since it seems like it has more to do with the book. Definitely UK on the second one though! I love the coloring and mysterious feel over it. Although I like the US cover more the more I look at it... Ugh, I can't decide! I'd have either in my shelf. ;)

I prefer the US cover of Fins to the UK one as its seems like its more in theme with the book.

Daughter of SMoke and Bone I can;t decide which one I like best.

If I were to buy DOS&B I'd definitely go with the UK cover! I'm also not a fan of the face on the US cover (in general I prefer covers that don't have big faces on them)
