The Blurb: Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumours abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.
Review: This was another great book to add to Jeaniene Frost collection of The Night Huntress Series.
It was so great to be back with all the characters and all though, things have changed with certain ones, I think it make the story that much better.
I've seen a few reviews around that people thought this book was a little mellower than previous ones. But for me, I loved it just as much. I'm quiet glad that there wasn't all the drama from previous books and glad that Cat & Bone's relationship can develop and become even stronger through out the story. There were quiet a few romantic parts with then and I'm so glad that we got to see that side of them.
I believe this story still had a bit of everything. It has action, romance, excitement and it was very emotional in parts. The story line had twists and turns that I did not expect and I loved how Jeaniene was able to tie all the new characters into the story too. I'm so eager to find out where the next book is going to take us with that small cliffhanger at the end - poor Don.
Overall, I loved it & I love Cat & Bones. I can not wait to read more of there story in the future.

The Blurb: Danger waits on both sides of the grave.

The Review: I enjoyed this one, the reason for the 4 stars is because it just lacked in some places unlike the others. I found myself trudging through this one slowly. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed this book. I just though the others were better.
I love that we're reunited with Cat and Bones from page one-Cat having Bones chained to a wall is really funny. Cat is very much in charge in this one which was a nice change. All the other secondary characters return, Vlad Tepesh is especially funny in this book, relieving Bones of some of his funniness.
The situation with Don, shows Cat in a vulnerable side proving she hasn't quite lost her humanity. Very sad, but the end of the book shows that Don isn't done yet which is awesome to see :)
I don't really have much more to say, except that This Side of the Grave is another great addition to the Night Huntress series, and I'm looking forward to One Grave at a Time in the autumn to continue Cat and Bones' journey.
Read it!
