Jess's thoughts: I bought this for myself a while a go. I have the complete series at home. I can't wait to get started in them and read about Werecats instead of wolves. I've only read one other book by Rachel Vincent and that was her Blood Bound book and I absolutely loved it. I adore he writing. And I hope I won't take too long to finally getting around to reading this series.

Donna's thoughts:  I've really been on a contemporary romance kick lately and One Night That Changed Everything has been high on my list to read. I'm hoping to try and get around to reading it one of the next weekend because it sounds amazing!

I've suddenly come to reading a lot of Erotica as you know. (Thank you Fifty!). But some of the newest additions I've started to read are Male/Male erotica. I'm sorry if this touches your ICK factor as I know it isn't always to peoples tastes. But I enjoyed them. They're actually really well written. I recently read The 51st Thursday and Scrap Metal and they were fabulous!  They are short stories, and I intend to read more very soon.

The Review: Last year Amy Plum convinced me that Ghost stories are just as amazing as any other mythical creature stories and now after reading Until I Die, I’m still convinced because it really was just as good as its predecessor and once again, Amy Plum takes us on a magical and romantic journey in Paris – one that is filled with swoon-worthy boys, full of laughs and danger lurking around every corner. 

This time around Kate and Vincent are in more danger than ever but both of them are determined to try and find a solution to their relationship problem – how can a human and a revenant really be together when the human is aging every day? Both of them take different paths but each one is just as dangerous as the other, especially with the return of the Numa and new arrival’s that are hiding deadly secrets. 

Until I Die really was an addictive read. I love being apart of Kate’s journey as she describes the perks of living in Paris. It really seems like a beautiful city – one that I hope to see more of one day. Amy’s excellent writing really give you the French experience even if it’s something as simple as going for a coffee or something as complex as a visiting a museum. Everything is so vibrant and colourful and it really makes me wish I was really there. 

With the arrival of new characters; Violette and Arthur, we do lose some of our favourite characters like Charles and Charlotte. Although they do have small roles in Until I Die, it simply wasn’t enough for me. Charles has his problems but I really liked him in Die for Me, so I’m hoping he makes a quick return. Despite Charlotte and Charles absence, I still think Amy Plum did a fantastic job creating the same setting with each character. Jules and Ambrose of course, are themselves. They both have their share of laughs in this book and as always, I love them but I really wish they could settle down and find girls of their own. Then of course, we have Kate and Vincent who really do go the ends of the earths for each other in this book. Their relationship is so beautiful and really loving that it really gives you hopes that a love like theirs really exists. But what I enjoyed the most about this story was the back story to the revenants. In Die for Me the story touches on the revenants lifestyle but in Until I Die, we really find out the nitty-gritty stuff and it really made me want more. 

Now that cliff-hanger…..Amy how could you? Talk about a shock! Poor Vincent and poor Kate. But I do have hopes that everything will work out fine but 2013 for the next book? TO FAR AWAY! I need it sooner! 

Overall, Until I Die is an unpredictable, fast paced and intense read. If you loved Die for Me then I’m sure you will enjoy this.

I actually can't believe it took me so long to read this book. What was I thinking?! Man! I LOVE Dystopian, and I loved everything about this book. Although it didn't grab it straight away like The Hunger Games, it was still absolutely amazing and I couldn't get enough of it. I found myself whizzing through it, I don't think I came up for breath! It's a shame I had to work, cut into 8 hours of good reading time.

Anyway, I loved the whole story. Dystopian is really hard genre to write about. And Roth manages to pull it off and she's the same age as me! It's a fantastic read that kept me on edge for a very long time. Tris was incredibly likable from the start, and I loved her character development. She went from and unsure Abnegation girl, to a strong-I-don't-take-no-crap-from-no-body-Dauntless girl! She was super kick ass and I loved her. Four was just...sigh. He has a piece of my heart now. I hope he's careful with it.

There's a lot of world build up in this, and I always feel Dystopians work better that way. As a reader I want to know about the chaos that surrounds this Dystopian future. I want to soak in every little detail. And that I did! It was simply wonderful.

There isn't a lot more I can say, except that it's definitely a book you should go into not knowing much about, that's what makes everything a little more epic.

Overall, a fabulous read and I look forward to reading Insurgent. When I get my stinking hands on it!

Burning and Rebuilding Bridges

Something that’s always been pivotal for me in relationships, friendships, any kind of human connection, is making things right after things turn sour.  The temptation to let everything go up in flames after a bad fight and just walk away is huge for many people, but I have yearning that pulls me in the opposite direction—I walk right into those flames.

Rebuilding a bridge hurts and it’s harder than walking away, but I’ve spent much of my life doing just this.  Maybe it’s because of who I am – my mother always called me a peacemaker.

I remember when I was in college I told a friend that it didn’t matter how much recognition and awards I got (I was a smarty pants in school), if things weren’t “right” with my friends, nothing else mattered. 

I can sense tension in a relationship a mile away, even if that particular friend or significant other refuses to talk to me about it.  I have trouble sleeping, thinking clearly, and doing my job, etc, until I have found or made peace with that glitch in the relationship. 

This part of me factored hugely into my writing of Moonlight and Oranges.  Lorona’s fierce determination to see things through is what makes her such a different and challenging woman for Kestrin.  She’s seen the horror of a bridge burned and left smoldering in her own parents’ divorce and she’s not interested in creating another devastation of her own.

Kestrin, on the other hand, has left such a long line of burned bridges and failed relationships behind him, it’s hard to see Lorona through the smoke, but he tries very hard to clear the air.

I’m not so naïve as to think that every relationship is salvageable.  I’ve had a friendship go dead for years before anything began to slightly warm again.  And even now it’s only lukewarm, but hope is alive again. 

Friendships that have fallen out can revive, but both parties have to be willing.  Love affairs that have broken off can return to understanding friendships.  I’m on good terms with every man I’ve dated and I’ve never had a vicious breakup.  I’m not saying that was all my doing, but that’s my story.

I cried for each of my break-ups, but deeper than getting even or wishing he would jump off a cliff for making the worst decision of his life (choosing not to be with me), I always felt a burning desire to go further and make things right between us.  Often that meant apologizing.

With my ex boyfriends, I was very interested in still being friends.  With my family, I can’t live with the idea of being so angry that I never talk to them again.  It’s just not an option for me.  And with my husband, I try to never go to bed angry at him.  It’s too awful to be so far away from the person sharing my bed.

There are also definitely those relationships that are so toxic, we’d be fools if we didn’t run away.  But I want to challenge us to look at what terms of peace might look like and see if it’s just our stubborn pride and anger stopping us from making that peace happen. 

Bridges should be rebuilt far more than left in the ashes.

I’m going to just put this straight out there and say – Lee Monroe’s writing definitely gets stronger and stronger with each book she produces. Like the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike, I’ve had my up’s and down with this series however, as Lee Monroe writes more books, I really feel there is a vast improvement in her work and it’s safe to say Dark Heart Surrender is definitely my favourite novel by her so far.

With Jane and Luca now together living on Mortal earth their hoping to put everything behind them but of course, things aren’t that easy. There are new arrivals in town that sure do stir some trouble and Jane and Luca is in the centre of it….once again, risking their lives.

Dark Heart Surrender definitely finished on a high note and what I loved about this book so much more than the others was the whole mystery that surrounded the story. As a reader I love to try and figure out what will happen next and I spent the whole of this book doing just that. Lee Monroe doesn’t give anything away until the very end and I really enjoyed it. Not only that but we get to see Jane and Luca try to be together and watch Luca adjust to living on Mortal earth. I was really pleased that Luca could adapt to living with Jane and her family so well because I must admit, I assumed this would be one of the problems to their story but I’m pleased to say it wasn’t. Luca and Jane are really dedicated to one another and their love really shines through, literally ready to fight anything that comes their way. And they’re a great couple that I was really rooting for.

Now the new characters that make an appearance in this story are well – how do I say this? Really creepy! You can’t help be creeped out by them and as secondary characters their roles in this book were written in very well. It felt like they had always been a part of this series even though they weren’t so overall, they were great additions.

After the events in Dark Heart Rising I was hoping we would get to see Vanya and Soren but they didn’t make an appearance in this book, which left me a little sad. I loved both characters and I feel there is so much more that Lee Monroe can do with this series but I’m told this was the last book in the series. I really felt by the ending in Dark Heart Surrender that was wasn’t much closure so if it is the last book then, PLEASE Lee, write some more! I’m really not ready to leave these characters behind but if it is the last, then I’ve really enjoyed my time with them and I will look forward to re-reading this series again in the future.

All in all, the Dark Heart series is an intense, intriguing and loveable series – one that I really enjoyed and it’s highly recommended to you paranormal romance fans.

Starting over sucks. 
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. 
And then he opened his mouth. 
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. 
The hot alien living next door marks me. 
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. 
If I don’t kill him first, that is.

Ha! I can't believe it took me so long to read this. I picked it up after I finished Jennifer's Covenant series, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. And I wasn't disappointed one bit!

I loved it, I loved every second of it. And I'm glad I got bullied into reading it. damn the peer pressure! Anyway, this was thrilling. The whole concept and story was wonderful with so many twists and turns that keep you wanting more. Keep you turning pages to see what happens next. Katy was completely likeable she was strong and independent and didn't take any crap from Daemon even when he was being a complete arse! And best of all...she's a book blogger! Ha I loved that little touch, and all the small book references Jennifer made to some YA books (one which I'm currently reading now!).  I loved that there was no insta-love here-just lust apparently. It was very much a love/hate relationship to start with and Daemon is so infuriating that I found myself wanting to kick him in his precious goonies.

I was completely sucked in from the moment I started reading this. Could not put it down! Every time something new and exciting happened it made me want to learn more about the Luxen's and their enemies.

I'm really not sure what else to say. After I finished this I was sad it was over, but lucky for me, we were on the Onyx Blog Tour so I was able to read book 2 straight away! If you haven't read anything by Jennifer yet,  then I suggest you do so quickly. You won't be disappointed. She has a knack for story telling, and her entire personality shines on through her characters and her dialogue. It was all completely wonderful and I look forward to reading more from her very soon!

Insurgent was one of my most anticipated books of 2012 and before I start this review I’d just like to say congratulations to Roth for being able to create a sequel that was just as good – if not even better than its predecessor, and secondly I’d like to say…..Insurgent is just full of pure awesomeness and it really is amazing.

After the shocking events in Divergent, Tris, Four and the gang are trying to move forward with their lives but they need the help of the other factions to help them fight the war. Tris soon finds an unlikely ally who is trying to help her discover the secret that is being hidden from everyone, so they can reveal it but first Tris must try and overcome her guilt and grief for the part she played in Divergent. Can she overcome her fears and save those who she loves most or are they all doomed to die?

Roth had me hooked from the very first page of Insurgent and I didn’t stop until the very end. It's one of them books that you just want to keep reading and reading because it's so exciting, captivating, compelling, and dangerous and of course it's filled with sad and happy times that leave you begging for more. It's one of them perfect books that make you feel every emotion possible and the world that Roth has created is so vivid that you can imagine yourself there. It's not a perfect world but she truly captures the good and bad points of every faction, making you love and hate them just the right amount. My heart raced in parts of this book because of the twists and turns the story takes and you just never know what to expect next and even though I was desperate to find out how the book ends, I also didn't want it to end because now I've got that long and painful wait for book three.

Tris for me really grew into her character this time around. Although she’s always been brave and strong, I feel the fears she had over her part in Divergent help her to become that much a better person. She’s stronger than ever, she will do what it takes to make things right and she will go against everyone that loves her. She’s someone that isn’t afraid to speak out and even though she loves Four with her full heart, she still stays true to herself even if he doesn’t always agree with her. Their relationship goes through a lot this time around but they become a stronger couple for it and I cannot wait to see what happens next with them.

All in all, Insurgent is one of the best sequels I ever read and I could definitely see myself re-reading this series again in the near future. If you’re looking for something completely mind-blowing and unique then this is the book for you. It's definitely one you don't want to miss out on.
