The Blurb: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

The Review: I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews about this book before I started it and I tired to block every comment so I could make my own mind up. But as much as I loved the concept of this story I just didn't love this book.

Cassia lives in a world where society rules everything. They rule what they eat, where they work, what clothes they wear but mostly who they fall in love with. On the night of Cassia'a matching she is matched with her best friend Xander and she couldn't be happier but when Ky Markman comes into the picture, Cassia is soon left with facing life changing decisions.

Arrghh! I always feel like I'm not reading the same book as everyone else when I have to rate a book poorly. The first chapter for me in this book was the best and then I think it just kind of went all down hill. I didn't feel connected with any of the characters, I felt there was almost no emotion through out the story except for the Train Scene and I just found it pretty dull. I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't. The last few chapters of the book did pick up but I still don't think it was enough to make me want to buy the next book in the series. I guess, I'll wait and see. But don't be put off by my review, make your own mind up about it, I'd love to hear what you thought.

Before I read this all I had were positives about it. A couple of chapters in and was like, "Why all the love?"
So I'm with you.
I struggled with Matched too. I just found it a little boring. Great honest review :)
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I really did want to like it but I guess, it wasn't for me :(
I still want to read this at some point but after quite a few mixed reviews I am in no rush!
I agree with you when you say that the first chapter was the best .. I like this book but I thought it was getting less and less good as I was reading . =( I'll read the second book though !
There seem to be many mixed reviews about this one. I am planning on reading it someday, but I'm in no hurry... Thanks for giving us your honest opinion, Donna! :)
*tears* I STILL haven't read this... but I've really only heard good things about it... Yours is the first negative review I've read... We'll see!
I also agree that the first chapter was best and I'm another one who didn't feel this book. I didn't hate Matched but I felt that it never really took off. I just didn't feel much of anything about it and the more I thought about it, the more disappointed I was because I expected to love it!
I won this book and I actually liked it :)
I didn't like this book very much either, although I gave it two stars for the very few things that I did like. I like the idea behind the book, but I feel like it has the same pattern that many of the other dystopias out there do as well. I read this book and was in no hurry to read Crossed, book 2. Actually, I still haven't. Reached, book 3, is coming out later this year, and I don't know if I'm going to read that as well. The first chapter definitely was the best. I agree with no emotion- it's almost as bad as watching the infamous Twilight heroine onscren lol. I'm not put off by your review, since I already read this book. Thanks for the honest review!!!
