Confessions of a Guest Blogger (#5): Featuring Jess from She Known As Jess

Ok so welcome to Confessions of a Guest Blogger. This will be a monthly feature held here at Book Passion for Life; where we'll contact our fellow bloggers to see if they would like to do a guest post and confess a guilty pleasure, secret, secret crush, a crush on a certain celebrity that is oh so wrong but so right!

So today, for our guest post we have one of our good friends and blogger Jess from She Known as Jess blog and she is confessing to her crushes. So here she is with her confession:

A crush aye; well right now I am finding myself pining after a boy named cricket. No, a man named Cricket, although now I think about it, I am two years older than him so that throws a speedy arrow through my heart but hey, two years, with a guy like him, I am more than happy to ignore that fact. And the truth is; I have many, plenty of character crushes, I am like your every day go around while staying completely innocent (I remember this one time I was in class and I didn’t even realise the teacher was trying to talk to me because I was so absorbed by what I was reading. i.e. embarrassing moment when I looked up to find the whole class staring at me) honestly how can I not with the abundance of hotties thrown my way through the beautiful dialogue that creates the men of my dreams.  For example; Four from Divergent; all brooding and masculine, (excuse the drool) how can anyone walk past him without the eye glancing up and down, ‘you know the smouldering come and get me look’ and seriously, how can you not stare; look and ahem drool at the character of FOUR that is being conveyed through text ‘Come’on I know you’ve done it, no sense denying it!’ Or Peeta from the Hunger Games; the sweetness about him, the hardness that changes him and evolves his personality throughout the many life changing events played out in the novel, and somehow he still manages to hold onto the sweetness that makes you want to hold onto him and reassure him that they’ll never come for him again even if you don’t know it is true. And then who could forget Valek from The Study Series; ‘excuse me, while I throw myself at him’ man oh man; how can someone be so sexy and fierce at the same time. ‘tries to cool down by fanning face’ and lastly but not last but last on this paragraph. St Clair? You know him, well then you know that his name is all that needs to be said. British. Hot. Sarcastic. Charming. Well let me finish this statement with trying not to drool on my shoes.

So the truth is I don’t think it is possible to have one crush, one man who makes your heart beat rapidly when it comes to the characters and chapters of a novel because there is going to be one that each of us will lunge after.

Unlike the real life of a love life; novels are easy, you can fall for the characters without hesitation; there is no confusion when it comes to choosing who you are keen to pine for, and there is no denying the attraction you feel. There is no way to decide exactly on one crush because there are so many fabulous crush worthy men in every new addition that is added to the YA genre that it isn’t easy to decide on just one.

As for my real-life crush; well my lips are sealed ;)

Well Jess, all I can say is that I personally agree with you. I have yet to experience Four from Divergent, but I feel like I know him well already. As for Peeta and St. Clair? Those are total givens considering how amazing they both are. Thanks for confessing those, I'm pretty sure all our readers feel exactly the same way!.

Confessions of a Guest Blogger (#4): Featuring Carina from Fictional Distraction

So today, for our guest post we have one of our good friends and blogger Carina from Fictional Distraction and she is confessing to her obsession in makeup. So here she is with her confession:

I am obsessed. And yes, we all know by now that I’m obsessed with books. That’s why I want to talk with you about another guilty pleasure I’m often indulging in: nail polish. Eye shadow. Lipsticks. Mascara. Basically every sort of cosmetics I can find.

It started a few years ago with watching YouTube videos of girls who showed me how to use more than one eye shadow color to make my eyes appear larger and brighter. They taught me how to find the right products for myself and how to use them without looking like a little girl playing dress up.

And I loved wandering through drugstores and perfumeries, buying new cosmetic products, trying new brands and spending my time experimenting. I actually even had a beauty blog for a few weeks, but it wasn’t for me in the long run – unlike book blogging.

The most interesting fact though is that watching beauty videos brought me back to my love of books and into the book blogging world. A girl on YouTube, who is also part of a quite famous German beauty blog, once posted a video talking about a new book series she read. It was the Sookie Stackhouse series.

I was intrigued immediately, bought those books and loved them. After that I wanted to watch more book reviews on YouTube and somehow ended up watching an “In My Mailbox” video which, in return, brought me to The Story Siren. The rest is history – I fell in love with book blogs, with YA novels and finally decided to start my own blog.

But I still love to spend my money on cosmetics, provided my book obsession is not eating up all of my income. My favorite product to buy is nail polish (as you can see in the picture, which I took myself) and for more than a year there has not been one day for me without any nail polish on my nails!

That's a pretty much a girl thing for all of us to go out and buy as much cosmetics as we possibly can. I know I sometimes spend a fortune on the stuff. But hey, if it works and you like it, then why not.

Thanks for stopping by Carina :)

Come back on December 1st when Jess from She Known as Jess Blog will be confessing her fictional crushes :)

Confessions of a Guest Blogger (#3): Featuring Misty from Bookaholics Book Club

Ok so welcome to Confessions of a Guest Blogger. This will be a monthly feature held here at Book Passion for Life; where we'll contact our fellow bloggers to see if they would like to do a guest post and confess a guilty pleasure, secret, secret crush, a crush on a certain celebrity that is oh so wrong but so right!

So today, for our guest post we have one of our good friends and blogger Misty Price from Bookaholics Book Club and she is confessing to judging books by their covers. So here she is with her confession:

Hi guys, I have a confession to make... I’m guilty of judging books by their covers! I’m sure we all secretly do it really. If I see a pretty book cover with a catchy title I want it before I know what it’s about, and I’ll usually buy it before finding out. I get cover envy if lots of my friends have a beautiful book that I don’t have and I have to get it even though I don’t know what happens. I just can’t help myself. I’m weak for pretty, shiny things. I guess you could say great covers are my Achilles heel, they just look so lovely on my book shelf and more often than not I can usually tell which are my ‘type’ of book from the cover and end up enjoying it even though I haven’t read the blurb at all.

Though I’ll point out this isn’t a failsafe method, sometimes choosing a book for its cover has left me disappointed because the inside just hasn’t been as striking as the outside but yet, I still can’t stop myself drooling over the images that adorn all these great (and some not so great) books.

My name is Misty and I am a cover addict!

Well Misty, I think it's safe to say, that we all judge books by their covers. I know I've done it. And I definitely know that Donna has too!

Well there you go. Are you guilty of judging books by their covers? Let us know in the comments below.

Come back on November 14th when Carina will be confessing.

Confessions of a Guest Blogger (#2): Featuring author Shawn Maravel

Ok so welcome to Confessions of a Guest Blogger. This will be a monthly feature held here at Book Passion for Life; where we'll contact our fellow bloggers to see if they would like to do a guest post and confess a guilty pleasure, secret, secret crush, a crush on a certain celebrity that is oh so wrong but so right!

So today, for our guest post we have author Shawn Maravel and she is confessing to her guilty pleasure crushes in film, TV and book. So here she is with her confession:

In film:
Lately I’ve had a thing for Alex Pettyfer. I am a brunette kinda girl all the way but there’s something about that effortless smolder and the flawless physique that gets me every time. I first saw him in I am Number Four and I was swooning…I’ll admit it outright. But for some reason I was really crushing afterBeastly. Why do I feel guilty about it? Marriage for one. And well…he’s younger by a few years, I never really hopped on the Taylor Lautner fan train, I’m a Pattinson fan if I had to pick one, so this is my first experience with crushing on a youngin’. I don’t hate it.

In TV:
I have a lot of crushes in TV shows to be honest. Vampire Diaries aside, I’m going to have to go with Chase Moran from Army Wives. He’s Delta Force and makes me cry in nearly every episode he’s in. He’s a real guy with flaws and faults but he’s loving and faithful and he means well. He’s the kind of man you can picture in the real world. A guy you’d love to barbeque with! And he looks like a great kisser, haha. And I’ll be honest…I don’t feel all that guilty about the crush!

In books:
Sticking with the Army and Special Forces theme, my book crush would have to book one of my own characters. Landon Bradley, from The Wanderer. I know, it seems kind of unoriginal to pick your own character, but I guess it kind of makes sense in a way too. Why would I create a guy that didn't make me weak in the knees?! I’ve read a lot of books and read about some really great male characters and they’re all awesome…but I have a soft spot for a man in uniform…and Landon fits the role perfectly. For those of you who need a visual, I kind of picture him as the Ryan Reynolds type. In fact, he was a mold I used when designing a few personality traits and physical features. Did I mention that Landon rides a motorcycle...while in uniform? That is a sight I will never tire of seeing, let me tell you!

Well Shawn, we all totally get your love for Alex P. He's a hottie and you really shouldn't feel guilty about it. I (Jess) am the same age as you Shawn and I crush after him all the time! As for the other two, I'd like to get to know them a little more, especially Landon if its Ryan Reynolds that you picture when reading about him!

Awesome confession from Shawn here. Do you have the same guilty pleasure crushes as her?

Come back on November 1st when blogger Misty will be confessing.

Confessions of a Guest Blogger (#1): Featuring Nat from Reading Romances

Ok so welcome to Confessions of a Guest Blogger. This will be a monthly feature held here at Book Passion for Life; where we'll contact our fellow bloggers to see if they would like to do a guest post and confess a guilty pleasure, secret, secret crush, a crush on a certain celebrity that is oh so wrong but so right! You get the gist.

So today, for our first guest post we have Nat from over at Reading Romances and she is confessing to her love of anything sci-fi...that's right that includes Star Trek. Yeah. So here she is with her confession:

Yes, I'm a science fiction addict. You would never imagine that the reading romances girl would be mad for sci-fi, right? I love the tv shows, board games, books and all but miniatures- that would be too much! I have seen Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, most of the current shows on syfy and other things that sci-fi fans like, such as The Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit and fantasy in general.

Okay, maybe I'm a bit of a nerd too. My addiction for sci-fi is stronger than my love for romance books, so why didn't I start a sci-fi blog? Well, I have a lot to say about romance books, and occasionally I review fantasy and science fiction titles that have romance - cause love makes it so more interesting! Reviewing romances is a new thing for me, I just started this year, while my love for sci-fi goes a while back and I feel like I don't have much to critique about. The thing is, when I read a romance book, I instantly feel like writing and never want the process to end- it's just so good to blog.

Well Nat, we forgive you. Each to their own and all that jazz. You've been very brave in confessing this to us; we don't judge you in the slightest (although its difficult) lol, and I'm sure there are others who have the same addiction. Doctor Spock would be so proud! I bet you're fluent in Clingon aren't you?...hmm...yes.

Well there you have it. Our first confession.

To cleanse you Nat you'll need to recite about 10 our Fathers, and 4 Hail Mary's...get to it!

Come back on the 1st of October when author Shawn Maravel will be confessing.
