The Blurb from Goodreads:When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home. Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized. Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe. A secret Kale will kill to protect.

The Review: Touch was my first read for 2012 and wow, what a fantastic way to start…..it was frigging awesome!

The story follows Dez, a girl that lost her mother at child birth and who now lives with her father who pays her no attention at all. She will do anything to get on her dad’s nerves so when she comes across Kale - a boy who she comes across in the woods and steals her sneaker; she hoping to piss her father off even more. When her father catches Dez and Kale together, it seems he knows more about Kale than Dez and more importantly Kale knows Dez’s father and hates him. As Dez’s life takes a dangerous turn, she find outs her father isn’t who he says he his and she soon goes on the run with Kale where hidden secrets start unrevealing themselves.

I’m actually really surprised how much I loved this book. I’d seen it a few times on Goodreads and always thought it’s not my sort of thing but after reading Hunting Lila by Sarah Alderson, I was itching to read something similar and Touch was the perfect book. From page one it had me gripped and you can’t help but get swept up into the wonderful world of Dez. She’s feisty, out spoken and she defiantly doesn’t taken crap from no one. She’s also very stubborn, funny and strong and all these qualities make her a fantastic character. I loved watching her unravel all the secrets surrounding her and there are certainly a few shocking twists to her as a character that will leave you dying to know more. Now Kale; wow, wow….wow! Seriously I never realised how dreamy a character could be until him. I love him. Considering he’s been bought up to kill people for Denazen’s he sure is a loving, touching and soft character. He’s also very naïve because he’s been sheltered from the outside world but seriously, some of his quotes just make you melt.

“He sat up straight, eyes wide, and touched the tip of his index finger to his cheek. “What was that?"
I blushed. "A kiss."
"That's what a kiss feels like?"
"Well, technically. There are a lot of different types of—"
"Show me."
"Show you what?"
"Show me some other kinds."
"You're asking me to kiss you?"

“As long as I know this" - he lifted our joined hands - "is mine to hold, I'll wait for you forever.”

“I think I understand that now. I think I love you.”

…….wow! Just re-reading them quotes gives me butterflies. Kale is seriously one AWESOME character and I can not wait to read more.

Overall, Touch is a fantastic debut novel from author Jus Accardo. It’s filled with moments that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat and it’s filled with tons of laughs. It’s definitely one you don’t want to miss out on. A MUST READ! And May 2012 can not come quick enough so I can continue reading about these wonderful characters.
