Even after years of trauma therapy, Peyton still believes she’s broken.  She has little desire to date or show off her natural beauty, content simply to hang out with her best friends and run her pie shop in New Orleans.  But her world turns upside-down when a handsome architect and self-confessed player shows up in her shop and thinks she’s perfect, much more than the usual hook-up.  While Peyton does her best to resist his charms, believing she could never be enough for him, she can’t deny the obvious heat between them.

With Reed determined to have her, Peyton must decide whether to continue to hide behind her apron and baggy clothes or take a chance and share her scars with Reed, a man with a playboy reputation and scars of his own — a dark past he can’t possibly share with Peyton, not after learning the horrors she’s endured.  But if they can find a way to trust each other, and themselves, they just might be able to heal, to save each other, to live perfectly broken together.

The Review: This book pretty much had me when I saw that it was set in New Orleans. I actually couldn't wait to read it!

This book pretty much has everything you want or could need in a novel. A strong heroine, a sexy guy with a bad reputation he's trying to kick, a great city, love, sex and drama.

Perfectly Broken was a great little read, I loved all the fun loving in it. I loved Peyton, having gone through a tragic life she hid away under baggy clothes and opened up a pie shop, then in walks Reed. Sexy, fun Reed. The chemistry between these two is off the charts from the moment they lay eyes on each other. During the entire book you felt their chemistry, their need to be put back together and both having demons inside and dark pasts, they learn that over spending time together they heal each other.

I've pretty much said this a few times, I love strong heroines. And to me Peyton was one of the strongest, having been through so much, she puts on a brave face and manages to endure new days, make her living and create lovely pies. The journey that her and Reed chart a course for is a tough one, full of betrayal around most of their turnings. But they handle it well.

Prescott Lane did a fabulous job at conveying so many raw emotions, and really letting the the reader be there in the moment, always wanting more from it. A true sign of a great writer.

This was the first book I've read from this author I believe, and I will most definitely be looking out for more of her books in the near future.

Perfectly Broken was a lovely little read, with great characters, great scenes, rollercoaster of emotions, that it'll leave you breathless in places, and simply aw'ed and others. This book is a real diamond, and it really should have it's time to shine.

Note: This book was provided to me by the publishers in exchange for an honest review. Due to adult themes this book is recommended for ages 17+

Peyton does sound like a compelling character who really shows the meaning of strong heroines. I also like how emotional this sounds - I'm always up for an emotionally raw novel to tear my insides out and all >.<
