Waiting on Wednesday (#53)

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Jess's WoW

16086479Return to Poughkeepsie (Poughkeepsie #2)
by Debra Anastasia
Release date: December 31st, 2013

Beckett Taylor is a murderer. Destruction and intimidation are his calling, his craft —whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe,
to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right?

But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. Mob forces have moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an
instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back safely. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, along with the new man
he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even when it’s messy, not magical, true love perseveres. Real love finds a way—for better or worse until death does part.

Jess's thoughts: Yeeeesssss!! You have NO IDEA how long I have been waiting for this book to release. AGES! I read the first one thinking it was a standalone, and I'd made peace with that, then Debra said she was writing the sequel and I freaked out. Cannot WAIT to get my hands on this one. I love Debra's work, and I'm so excited for this one!

White Hot Kiss
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Release date: March 2014

One kiss could be the last

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

Donna's thoughts: Another JLA book?! Of course I'm gonna read it! That's all I really need to say.

Both books sound fantastic ladies, I remember seeing a lot of reviews for Anastasia's first book, so I'm glad you're finally get a follow up book Jess!

I haven't heard of either of these. The first one looks especially good even though I haven't read the first one in the series.

Ahh, yet another JLA book that I'll add on my to-read list and I'll pine after for years. I still haven't read any of her books and with all the positive reviews I realize that it's a shame... I'm adding this one on my to-read list and I'm getting it the first chance I get.

As for the other pick. I haven't read the first book in the series so I'm not familiar with the story but the summary sounds pretty interesting...

I hope you enjoy reading both books. Great picks!

Come check out my WOW post.
