Welcome to Book Passion for Life's 50th US vs UK book cover battle.
The idea of this battle is once a week we'll post 2 sets of books of our choice, one US cover and one UK cover, and we'll just give our opinion on which one we love the most. Which cover captures the story, which one would catch our eye if we saw it on the shelf in a shop. The US cover will be on the left, and the UK cover will be on the right.

Jess says: Ooh a book I want to read! I love both of these covers. The US is beautiful but I think I'm going with the UK just because it's matched the cover with the title of the book, having the mask there with blood splatter it's super cool.
Donna says: I really want to read this book - which I have but haven't gotten around to it yet. Cover wise though, I'd have to pick the US. It's stunning! I do like the UK one but the US really tops it.

I have to say For Masque Of The Red Death it has to be the US, its just so eye catching. Ive read it and loved it :) As for Clarity, another awesome book, I have to go with the UK.
Oh my, I really like the cover for Abandon By Meg Cabot, it looks amazing.
Ok that's a touch one because I like both covers for different reasons, though I think that I actually do prefer the US cover of "Clarity" a tiny little bit.
My favourite this week is the UK Masque one. It's simplest and prettiest. Clarity's UK cover is a bit more fitting to the book and nicer to look at too.

My fav for this week has to be STOLEN NIGHT! But ABANDON comes in very close to second.
I think that the UK cover from both books win this week. In this first battle, the cover matches the title! And in the second one... the US book, a bit like Donna, hurts my eyes...

Of the above covers I think I like ABANDON the most.
I like the UK cover of Masque of the Red Death - but that might be because I love Phantom of Opera and teh marque has a similar feel to it! :-)
For Masque of the red death it's the US one but for clarity I think it's harder to choose and I'm really indecisive about which I like more!
I say US for both MotRD and Clarity.

UK Masque of the Red Death is definitely my favourite because it conveys the title rather than being a completely unrelated image, and it's pretty!
I'm on the fence with the Clarity covers, but I like both of the covers for MOTHRD.. the UK covers looks a bit more grown up, doesn't have a YA feel about it, I love the red colour in that one. The US cover, I like, but I don't think it tells the story as well as the UK cover.

I think the UK cover for Masque of the Red Death is my favourite. I do like them both but the blood-splattered mask looks very cool. ;) The US cover if my favourite for Clarity though. I don't actually like the UK cover very much for that one. :P

I love the US cover of Masque - it just seems like it would fit better. I might thing the UK cover is Phantom of the Opera related and never pick up the book. The US cover is definitely very striking.
I love the UK cover of Clarity. The US cover is weird...the UK cover seems to fit really well.
I totally prefer both US covers. It could partially be that those are the covers i know, have seen forever, and already like. But I really think i would prefer the US covers even if this was my first time seeing them.
For Masque of the Red Death i just find the cover so pretty. Love that woman. And for Clarity I've always loved that US cover. What the heck with the UK one? Who is that on the cover? Clare the main character is a teenager with freckles and pretty red hair who is sweet and lovely. That UK cover does not depict her at all!

For Masque of the Red Death, I love both editions, they're so pretty, but cause I have to choose. then I prefer the UK one, as for Clarity, I never liked the US cover, so once again the UK one ;)

I love the US cover for Masque of the Red Death best. I am having a tough time deciding for Clarity. I do love the UK one with the colors a bit more, but for standing out for me to read it would be the US one. I am not sure why. LOL

For Masque of the Red Death, I'm definitely going US. I like the colors better and find it more eyecatching.
For Clarity, I'd have to say UK. Again, the colors are more eyecatching, and for some reason, the US version just reminds me of Hatchet or some other book like that... Is that weird?

For me its the US for both books this week, I was gutted the UK changed the cover of Masque Of The Red Death as I love the girl on the US one and I own the US copy of Clarity and I think the cover is stunning, love the brightness of it, really makes it stand out. I like the US Masque of the Red Death but the UK of Clarity
For Masque of the Red Death: The US cover is shiny and beautiful and eye catching, but the UK cover edition is so much more relevant to the plot, theme, and title of the book. I do happen to like both, though. :)
For Clarity, I prefer the UK edition much more. The US cover is a tad too bright, the girl's face is partially concealed and the shine of light directed on her face is very distracting. I adore the strong background colour of the UK cover, however. :)

Oddly enough, the covers I love most this week are the UK covers. And I usually prefer the US covers, so I'm surprised. I adore the UK covers of The Masque of the Red Death, Seraphina, Clarity and Stolen Night. I also alreay liked the UK cover for Fated and the US cover for Hemlock.

I have to say I prefer both UK edition covers. Though I think both of The Masque of the Red Death covers are brilliant, and would happily own either.
Between the two you have up there, I like the UK cover of Clarity better. Usually I would pick the US cover, because usually they are a little better, but the UK cover's model has a better face for the cover and the cover's colors. The US cover model looks kind of bleached out. As for the giant list that we can choose from, A Million Suns. I bought this book, so I won't choose it if I win, but I love the cover. It's so much prettier if you have it in your hands, not just as a picture.

I don't know what Clarity is about, the US cover makes it look like a contemporary, and the UK cover makes it look paranormal. Both very pretty though.
