My Book Boyfriend is a weekly meme, hosted by Missie at The Unread Reader. What is My Book Boyfriend you might ask. Well it is a weekly meme where we talk about a literary crush including stats, a picture of what you imagine he looks like and some quotes from him that make you swoon. So..here's someone who's the ultimate gentleman. Before Edward Cullen there was Mr.Darcy, before Jace...there was Mr. Darcy...before Ren there was...Mr. Darcy. So here is Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy...my first love because Pride and Prejudice was the first book I ever read and finished.
Stats:
Status: Mr. Darcy is a wealthy gentleman with an income exceeding £10,000 a year, and the proprietor of Pemberley, a large estate in Derbyshire, England. He is said to be a proud and disagreeable man.
Age: 28
Resides: Pemberley Estate in Derbyshire, England
Love Interest: Miss Elizabeth Bennett
Resides: Pemberley Estate in Derbyshire, England
Love Interest: Miss Elizabeth Bennett
Description: Tall with handsome features and noble looking.
“In vain have I struggled, it will not do. You must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and love you.”
“Dearest, loveliest Elizabeth”
"You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my Aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I had scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed...I could, I would have to tell you, you have bewitched me body and soul and I love and love and love you. And never wish to be parted from you from this day on."
Well there you have it. Colin Firth will forever and always be my Mr. Darcy. If you haven't seen the version with him...well then I should slap you! It's the best version. Pride and Prejudice is a classic; a book everyone should read and have on their bookshelf. Add it to your TBR if you want to spend a little time in 1800 England. Add to your TBR if you want to get to know Darcy (his friends call him that) better. I think you should. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed this special edition of Book Boyfriend. I certainly have. Donna isn't impressed...but I don't care! Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy Pride and Prejudice (when you get to it).
Happy reading! :)

I've never seen the P&P version with Colin Firth, but I'm totally in love with the 2005 version. It's the movie I always watch when I'm having a bad day. Such a beautiful love story.
Mr. Darcy definitely is a great choice for a Book Boyfriend. :)
Carina
Carina, you should definitely check out the 1995 version with Colin Firth. It's one of the best. I wasn't overly impressed with the 2005 movie. Definitely check out the 1995 version. It's a little long and you may only find it on dvd now, you need an entire day to watch it as it's about 6 hours long. Worth it though.

Oh who doesnt love Mr Darcy?
I am however a fan of Matthew Macfadyen from the 2005 verison with Kiera NIghtley.
I saw that version first and well Colin Firth is a little old for me, i do love him as an actor though.
I must get around to reading the book!
Ah you see. I saw the Colin Firth version first and was a little disappointed with the Keira version. It's still good though I will admit that, and I did enjoy it. But the 1995 version was the first version I watched and so became my love. Each to their own though!

Sigh. Yes, Mr Darcy is and will always be the greatest. Love that gif!
*sigh* Darcy! Never a better man has been written--he will forever be my book husband :)
whilst I agree that Darcy makes an excellent book boyfriend, I too prefer the 2005 version :P colin firth has never appealed to me
The Cait Files
I looooooooooove Mr. Darcy! I like both versions, the Colin Firth, and also Matthew Macfadyen. Both for different reasons. They are both Yummy. :)
You know what you girls should check out? A short TV show called Lost in Austen. The guy who plays Darcy in that is also amazing...I should have used him! Elliot Cowan...check him out!

I love Colin Firth Mr Darcy... his face just screams the perfect Darcy! McFayden was ok, but not as handsome. I saw the 2005 version after this and was disappointed... i found myself staring at his nose the whole time, wondering why they would give Mr Darcy such an imperfection, hehe.
I have Lost in Austen too, I like that they make that Mr Darcy go into the pond like Colin Firth... that scene always makes the book... i just dont understand why he was so open to her suggestion... u would think he would have his pride and sense of common decency stopping him :P

I just read P&P for the first time over the summer :) Really enjoying the quotes you chose :)
Awwwww! Is Darcy batting is lashes at me? He should know he doesn't have to, I'm already his.
Jess! Awesome choice this week. Did I ever tell you I visited Bath and the Jane Austen Center! It was AWESOME. They had so much Darcy stuff that I got suckered into buying because hello, it's DARCY!
That gif is from one of my fave scenes in his version. Bath is a beautiful city, I was there a long time a go before I read P&P so I missed Jane's house, but the next time I go I will definitely take a look!

Love, love, LOVE Mr. Darcy! But what woman wouldn't? I haven't seen this version of the movie, but I think I need to!
Here's mine: http://simpleloveofreading.blogspot.com/2011/09/my-book-boyfriend-33.html
I love this version of Pride and Prejudice - it is so faithful to the book. And who doesn't like that wet shirt scene!
I love the artistic look of the 2005 film, but found Matthew a very wet, pathetic Darcy. Dracy is meant to be proud and snobbish, not mooning away looking like he is about to burst into tears about prematurely loosing his hair (which I'm afraid, is how MM looks to me).
I agree the Darcy from Lost in Austen is actually one of my favourites. His wet shirt scene beats Colin's. Most definitely.
Why isn't Donna impressed!?! Does she... not like Mr Dracy!!!?!!

Ha! I'm so totally not a Mr Darcy fan. Am I the only one? Probably but he's not my sort of thing. HOWEVER, My Book Boyfriend is Jess's thing so she can pick who she wants. Lol - Donna
Seriously. Mr Darcy is DREAMY! :)
