Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

The Review: WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

Oh gosh, where to start with this book. I HATED IT and I LOVED IT at the same time, how is that even possible? It’s such a cruel, heart-breaking and emotional read – one that was highly addictive and even though at times, I didn’t want to read, I couldn’t put it down.

Livvie is such a brave, strong and loving girl – honestly, she has so much strength, even though she is reduced to beatings, mind games and all the other horrible things that happen to her. The tile of this book ‘Captive in the Dark’ really represents Livvie because she is in fact, a captive in the dark.

“He was my tormentor and my solace; the creator of the dark and the light within.” - Livvie
.
Caleb is a tortured and cruel man. It’s hard to love him during this book because he pushed my limits so much with Livvie. It’s possible you may even hate him. The things he does to her are unspeakable but somehow, deep down you still manage to have hope – just like Livvie, that somewhere in his darkness Caleb will find the light.

“This isn't a romance. You're not a damsel in distress and I'm not the handsome prince come to save you.” - Caleb
.
Captive is the Dark isn’t for the faint hearted. To read this book you need to have an open mind and really don’t judge everything for how it seems. Have hope and you will love the book. It’s a heart-breaking read, full of despair but underneath it’s a story of hope too.

BOOK TWO OF THE DARK DUET
The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.

What is the price of redemption?

Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.

The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it’s all coming to an end.

Can he surrender the woman he loves for the sake of vengeance?

Or will he make the ultimate sacrifice?

Quote:
It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. For Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.

The Review: WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

Oh wow, where the hell do I even start with this book? It’s one of the most emotional reads I have EVER read in my life and I’ll admit it’s completely out of my normal reading material. This series is classed as dark erotica and I have to say it’s opened up my eyes completely. There are just no limits with this book in which the author can push all the boundaries and yes it’s brutal world, but with a story like this, how can you read it and it not leave a dent in your heart? It can’t!

C.J Roberts has created a disturbing and heart-wrenching read – one that you will be addicted to as soon as you start and you will be compelled to read it until you’re turning the very last page. It’s a unique read – or so I think. I’ve never read anything remotely like this before and I have to say, I’m eager to find more books like this in the future. Not right now though, as I need some time to get over this whirlwind of emotions I’m still feeling about this book right now.

Caleb was just – I’m lost for words on him. I spent the first half of the book hating him. He was horrid and cold and I was just waiting for that nice side of him to come out. We all know he has it but it’s truly a tortured young man. He’s driven by loyalty and revenge and it clouds everything for him. He doesn’t believe his is worth love – well that is until Livvie and of course, things soon change.

“Mine.
The word was a declaration. It rocked him to his very foundation. It was a truth he’d kept hidden for far too long. Caleb didn’t know anything about love, or loving anyone, but he knew… Livvie was his.” – Caleb

Livvie oh gosh, if I thought she was strong in Captive in the Dark, then she amazes me in Seduced in the Dark. Determined to win her freedom, she becomes a strong women – one that still depends on Caleb but really, she’s his Achilles heel. She pushes Caleb to his limits and really, she does pay it– in more than one way. She’s pushed to her limits, tested and put in unspeakable situations but she does it all with hope and strength. Hope that she will have her freedom….one day.

“In the dark, my master let down his guard and he was Caleb again. He didn’t correct me. He didn’t punish me. He didn’t push me away emotionally. Caleb was there to hold me until the nightmares passed. He was there to tell me I was beautiful. He was there to tell me I was going to be okay. In the dark, he seduced me. I didn’t want the seduction to end.” - Livvie

Some people may ask did Livvie really love Caleb or was it Stockholm Syndrome? I think if Livvie hadn’t meet Caleb before he kidnapped her – then possibly it would be but, this isn’t the case of this book. Livvi, despite all of Caleb’s faults – loves him with her whole heart and she craves for him.

Now I bet your wondering how their story ends….well I guess you will have to find out for yourself but I promise you, you won’t be disappointed!

I just read the first one and I sooo very much agree!!! This is really borderline in every aspect, but I couldn't help but love it!! It was this dark fascination with something you normally wouldn't say out loud. I cannot wait to read the next one and I'm ready for new torment! but.. I looove it! Wonderful Review :)))
