Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?
But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.
The Review: It's no secret that Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favourite authors, so it was a given that as soon as I heard about Cursed - I knew I'd read it. And after reading it I can say, it's another great story from this fantastic author!
.
After a fatal car accident Ember McWilliams died, well that is until her little sister bought her back from the dead, and now Ember's life has changed forever. Anything Ember touches - dies, so she goes out of her way not to touch anyone. But when she accidentally kills a school bully, her life is turned upside down and she soon discovers there are more people like her...with special gifts and soon her life is more danger than ever.
.
I really liked this book and it is another story from Jennifer that is fantastic. She's got the knack for great story telling and for creating paranormal setting that are easy to imagine with adding that perfect blend of romance and excitement into the story. This story is not completely new to me as ha've read another books with similar story line but Jennifer really makes this book her own and puts her own spins on it.
.
The character were a joy to read about. Ember and Hayden are unique in their own ways. Their both strong and loveable and I enjoyed their romance the most. It wasn't an instant connection, they grew to love each other but my only problem with them both was, I found that they were slightly forgettable once I finished the book. Even though I enjoyed them while reading, I didn't have that after feeling for them that I do for Jennifer's other characters like; Aiden, Alex, Katy & Daemon. These characters are completely EPIC and I think it's always going to be hard to try and top these characters. I don't think it helped that I read this book after reading Deity and well, that's always going to be a hard act to follow. But don't let that put you off from reading this book. It was still a great read and I'm sure any fan of Jennifer's will love it.
.
So all in all, Cursed is a gripping and heart-pounding read - one that is full of mystery and enjoyable scenes. If you've never read a book by Jennifer L. Armentrout then I highly recommend you do, I promise, you won't be disappointed.
.
A big thank you to Spencer Hill Press for giving me the opportunity to review this book.

Great review I'm so glad you liked it! Armentrout is a really good writer! I think I'll have to pick up this book when it comes out. It sounds very diffferent and original.

Again, just skimming your review, sorry :/ but I have this one to read soon too. I haven't read any of JLA's books yet and this doesn't seem to have got the glowing reviews her other books have, so maybe its good that I'll be starting at the bottom and working my way up lol. I've had Half Blood for ages but haven't got around to reading it yet.
" a gripping and heart-pounding read " ~ I'm in! Another one for my list ;)
I still have yet to read a book by Jennifer but I just got Obsidian and I have Half Blood on my TBR.
Cursed sounds great and I'm so glad it doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to read it!:))
I've never read a Jennifer L. Armentrout book, but I would love to! The storyline sounds a bit like Pushing Daisies, if you remember that T.V. show, only she could bring dead people back to life. I love the sound of this & I'm glad you enjoyed it, Donna! Thanks for a great review, maybe I'll get round to this one some day soon. :)
I'm seeing a lot of rave reviews on Jennifer L. Armentrout's books, and I seriously need to pick up her series!
The character shadow is probably because it's still the first book?
Anyway, great review.
Can't wait to read this! Great review Donna!
