We were lucky enough to be invited to the European Divergent premiere
which took place on Sunday, March 30th in London. Leicester Square
was transformed into a Divergent camp where fans could take part in initiation
tests to find out which faction you belonged to, get fake tattoos of your favourite
faction and of course, the best part, watch some of the cast members walk the
red carpet.
We arrived around 12.30pm where we grabbed lunch and then
headed straight into Leicester Square. It was super busy with people shopping
and looking around as the red carpet was being set up. We headed into the fan
experience where lots of people were undergoing tests and there were Dauntless
people walking around - looking a bit
scary – asking people to take part. They were in character and really did a
good job.
We also met up with a bunch of other bloggers like Casey
from Dark Readers, Ben from Benjamin of Tomes and Jasprit from The Readers Den.
Eek! Very cool bloggers guys! And not to forget we travelled with Misty from
Bookaholic Book Club. We took a few pictures too. It was so much fun!
With the film starting around 2.30pm, it ran a little over and started around 3pm. There were 400 fans plus family and friends of the
actors and whoever else was invited trying to get into the theatre within 30 minutes. Lol. Veronica Roth arrived first in a lovely black
Vivienne Westwood dress, then Kate Winslet and Shailene Woodley who came in a
gorgeous blue Stella McCartney dress.
When they started letting us in to the cinema, we were able
to walk the red carpet *fan girl moment*. We were so excited for this because
really, the liklihood of us being able to do that again is pretty remote. They
also asked us to choose which faction we belonged to and got a cool wrist band
that gave us allocated seating in the theatre, and our chairs were filled with
free water and a cool Divergent T-shirt.
While we were inside, Theo James finally arrived and we were able to
watch his entrance on to the red carpet on the big screen along with the actor’s interviews which took place on the podium outside. You can guess there was a lot of drooling going on over Theo. We know some people weren't sure of him as Four, but to us, he was perfect....even before seeing the movie. ;)
Then, the moment we’d been waiting for happened! The director
Neil Burger presented the film and brought the actors and Veronica Roth on
stage. The crowd went wild! We were like 4 or 5 rows from the front, so we were
pretty close . The crowd was screaming for everyone, Theo of course received the most attention. And then of course, the film started. Yay!
And, wow! It was so amazing. All that waiting time and
the waiting time from when we first heard it was being turned into a movie was
so worth it. Watching it with 400 fans really added to the experience.
Everyone was oohing in all the good parts, it made it so much fun. It was an unforgettable day!
Thank you so much to everyone who made this day happen, especially Harper Collins UK!

This is such a brilliant recap post Donna! Wasn't this Sunday just the best day ever? I think I was so hyped the entire day, that I didn't realise how tired I was until I had to get up for work the next day. Theo definitely convinced me with this film, I was really uncertain about him before, my sister is like his number one fan now! Also it was great finally meeting you, can't wait to see you again in May! :)
Great recap!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it and so jealous you got to seed Theo James ;) Can't wait to see the movie :)
Congratulations, ladies. What an amazing opportunity, and it certainly sounds like you all had heaps of fun. ♥
