The Review: 4.5 stars! 

Well, that was one hell of a surprising read! I have to be honest, I kind of judged The Kiss Off before I started reading it. Not a lot of my reading buddies on Goodreads have read this book so I wasn’t really expecting much from it – but boy was I wrong, because The Kiss Off was one kick ass read! 

Poppy Douglas is a teenage girl on a war path since her boyfriend; Cam, cheated on her with one of her so-called best friend; Nikki. So to get revenge, Poppy writes a song and posts it on YouTube for the whole world to see. However, Poppy is more than shocked when her song becomes one of the most popular watched videos on YouTube and soon, a local band wanted to pick up her song. This is where she meets Ty, the lead singer of the band and it’s pretty clear he’s interested in Poppy. While Poppy is welcomed into Ty’s world, she can’t help think about Cam, especially when he starts showing interest in her again. Can Poppy survive being so popular? And most importantly how does she choose between Cam and Ty? 

I still can’t believe how much this book surprised me! I’ve been on a real contemporary kick lately and this really hit all the spots. The storyline was just so much fun – even the opening chapter was fun and I loved it! 

The main character Poppy is fantastic, she’s very bubbly, funny and very talented. I loved the whole singer/song writer and YouTube business and it really added to her awesome personality. She’s has a lot of balls to do the things she does – not many people would do it but Poppy does and she doesn’t do it by half’s. The secondary characters were fantastic too, especially Ty. I even liked Cam as he’s supposed to be the bad guy. I didn’t really care for Nikki – to much drama for my liking and all the other boys like Dev were a great addition too. 

Overall, The Kiss Off is a fun, feisty and flirty read and this is YA contemporary romance at its best! I’d highly recommend you read this book because it’s not one to miss out on and I cannot wait to read the sequel when it’s released.
